Abstract: A motor unit includes a motor including a rotor to rotate about a motor axis, a reduction gear including an intermediate gear to rotate about an intermediate axis and connected to the motor, a differential including a ring gear to rotate about a differential axis and connected to the reduction gear, a housing including a housing space to house the motor, the reduction gear, and the differential, oil in a vertically lower region of the housing space, and an oil passage to lead the oil from the vertically lower region of the housing space to be fed to the motor. The housing includes a ceiling portion directly above the reduction gear and the differential. At least a portion of the ring gear is lower than a liquid surface of the oil in the vertically lower region of the housing space. The motor axis, the intermediate axis, and the differential axis extend in parallel with one another along a horizontal direction. Each of the intermediate axis and the differential axis is lower than the motor axis. The ceiling portion is substantially parallel to an imaginary line imaginarily joining the motor axis and the differential axis when viewed in an axial direction of the motor axis.

Abstract: A drive apparatus to be mounted on a vehicle includes a motor body including a rotor to rotate about a central axis extending in a horizontal direction perpendicular to a direction of travel of the vehicle, and a stator radially outside of the rotor, a housing including a housing portion to house the motor body, oil in a vertically lower region of the housing portion, and a pump to move the oil from the vertically lower region of the housing portion to feed the oil to the motor body. A liquid surface of the oil in the vertically lower region of the housing portion approaches the central axis to bring the oil into contact with the rotor as a result of the vehicle being inclined forward or rearward in the direction of travel.

Abstract: A motor includes a rotor to rotate about a motor axis, and a stator radially outside of the rotor. The rotor includes a shaft extending along the motor axis, and a rotor core surrounding the shaft from radially outside. The shaft includes a hollow portion including an inner circumferential surface extending along an axial direction, and a communicating hole extending in a radial direction to bring a space outside of the shaft and the hollow portion into communication with each other, the hollow portion being structured to allow oil to be fed thereinto. The inner circumferential surface of the hollow portion includes a recessed groove extending along a circumferential direction. The communicating hole opens into the hollow portion at the recessed groove.
