Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer-readable media, for a retransmission protocol that utilizes compressed feedback. Various implementations relate generally to a compressed feedback technique for hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ). Upon receiving a compressed feedback value, a sending device may generate a retransmission codeblock. The retransmission codeblock may be derived from multiple codeblocks in a set of codeblocks. A receiving device can use the retransmission codeblock to obtain any failed codeblock in the set of codeblocks based on all other previously decoded codeblocks in the set of codeblocks. Thus, the receiving device does not need to indicate which codeblock in the set failed, but only needs to send a compressed feedback value that indicates which sets of codeblocks have had a single codeblock failure.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A receiving device may receive a channel estimation reference signal (CHEST-RS) transmitted over a bandwidth, the CHEST-RS associated with a power amplifier (PA) configuration of a transmitting device. The receiving device may determine a channel estimation measurement associated with the PA configuration based at least in part on the CHEST-RS. The receiving device may receive a non-linear estimation reference signal (NLEST-RS) transmitted over a subset bandwidth of the bandwidth, the NLEST-RS associated with the PA configuration. The receiving device may determine a non-linear estimation measurement associated with the PA configuration based at least in part on the NLEST-RS and the CHEST-RS, the non-linear estimation measurement identifying a non-linear response of the PA configuration. The receiving device may communicate with the transmitting device based at least in part on the channel estimation measurement and the non-linear response of the PA configuration.

Abstract: Wireless communication techniques for supporting, selecting, and using multiple waveforms and/or multiple decoders for downlink wireless communication are discussed. A UE may transmit to a base station an indication of one or more downlink waveforms or decoders supported by the UE. The UE may also transmit to the base station an indication of power consumption associated with at least one of the one or more downlink waveforms or decoders. The UE may receive from the base station an indication of a waveform or decoder, based on the indication of power consumption, to use for downlink wireless communication.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may enter a lower power mode of operation, and may receive, from a base station, a non-coherent signal while the UE is operating in the lower power mode. The UE may identify an indication to transition from the lower power mode to a higher power mode of operation based at least in part on receiving the non-coherent signal. The UE may enter the higher power mode based at least in part on identifying the indication.

Abstract: This disclosure provides methods, devices and systems for reducing PAPR in wireless communications. Some implementations more specifically relate to suppressing the amplitudes of a data signal that exceed a threshold amplitude level. The data signal may represent transmit (TX) data associated with a hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) process. In some implementations, a transmitting device may detect one or more peaks associated with the data signal. The transmitting device may reduce the amplitudes of the samples associated with the detected peaks to produce the amplitude-suppressed data signal. The transmitting device may further generate peak suppression information indicating the amplitudes of one or more of the samples associated with the peaks. In response to receiving a NACK message, the transmitting device may transmit, to the receiving device, the peak suppression information, one or more coded bits representing the TX data (associated with the HARQ process), or any combination thereof.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. Some wireless communications systems may utilize beamforming techniques to process wireless communications transmitted in millimeter wave (mmW) frequency ranges. In such cases, a user equipment (UE) may perform lattice reduction (LR)-based preprocessing for a received resource element (RE), which allows the UE to utilize demapping techniques (e.g., minimum mean square error (MMSE)-based demapping techniques or successive interference cancellation (SIC) demapping techniques) that are less computationally-complex than conventional demapping techniques (e.g., maximum likelihood (ML)-based demapping techniques) while providing a similar performance as conventional techniques. Further, due to mmW systems' robustness to time-dispersion, the UE may apply the same LR to multiple REs across multiple symbols in the time domain and across multiple sub-carriers in the frequency domain. The computational cost of performing the LR calculation may be spread across multiple REs and further increase the efficiency of utilizing low-complexity demapping techniques.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A base station may transmit, to each user equipment (UE) of a set of UEs, a different respective set of one or more training parameters for a digital pre-distortion procedure. Some or all of the UEs may determine one or more respective training values based on the one or more training parameters, where the training values from the UEs support the base station computing a set of non-linearity coefficients for the digital pre-distortion procedure. The base station thus may receive training parameters from some or all of the UEs and determine the set of non-linearity coefficients based thereon. The base station use the non-linearity coefficients to perform the digital pre-distortion procedure for one or more downlink transmissions, to one or more UEs of the group of UEs used for training, or to one or more other UEs.
