Abstract: Features of the present disclosure implementing techniques that allow the user equipment (UE) to autonomously (e.g., without the network control) manage timing synchronization of a plurality of carriers using sidelink synchronization signal (SLSS) from one or more other UEs in order to identify a synchronization source. A synchronization source associated with a frequency carrier from a set of frequency carriers may be selected according to one or more SLSS sync source selection techniques or rules. For instance, the described solution may be utilized to enable UEs to autonomously perform V2X carrier aggregation (CA). In some examples, the synchronization carrier(s) to be searched may be determined based on the SLSS capability of the UE (e.g., transmission and reception of SLSS capabilities of the UE).

Abstract: Methods and apparatus for configuring a UE to assist in mitigating network congestion include determining whether a data packet has expired based on a first parameter, which indicates an expiration of the data, and adjusting a transmission of the data packet based on the determination of whether the data packet has expired. In some aspects, the UE may drop the data packet upon determination that the data packet has expired. The UE may be configured detect to a first congestion level, receive a second congestion level from a second UE, and process a frame for transmission based on the first or second congestion level. The UE may be configured determine a priority, generate a data packet that includes a destination parameter or a source parameter, adjust radio resource parameters based on the destination parameter or source parameter, and transmit data packets according to adjusted radio resources.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. The method, system, and apparatus may include managing the operation mode of a user equipment in vehicle-to-everything communication. In some aspects, a user equipment may transmit an inactive request message (or a request message) to a base station to indicate the user equipment is switching from a base station scheduling mode (or a radio access network node scheduling mode) to a peer user equipment scheduling mode (or a roadside unit scheduling mode). The user equipment may receive an acknowledgment message from the base station indicating a state change to allow the peer user equipment scheduling mode. In some cases, the user equipment may receive an area identifier from the base station, and the area identifier may indicate an area where the peer user equipment scheduling mode is allowed.

Abstract: A transmitting UE may in a device-to-device (D2D) communication may identify a demodulation reference signal (DMRS) sequence for a D2D transmission based at least in part on a subset of bits of a sidelink control information (SCI) transmission. The subset of bits of the SCI transmission may be selected such that the bits have sufficient variability to reduce the likelihood that multiple UEs may use the same DMRS sequence. The subset of bits of the SCI transmission may be all or a portion of a cyclic redundancy check (CRC) for the SCI.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A user equipment (UE), e.g., a lead platooning vehicle configured for wireless communications, may determine a communication resource requirement for a group of platooning vehicles. The communication resource requirement may be based at least in part on a number of vehicles forming the group of platooning vehicles and a communication range of at least a portion of the vehicles. The UE may identify, based at least in part on the identified communication resource requirement, an assignment of time-frequency radio resources to use for inter-vehicle communications in the group of platooning vehicles. The UE may transmit an indication of the assignment of time-frequency radio resources to the group of platooning vehicles.

Abstract: A user equipment (UE) may be outside of the coverage area of a base station or other access point, which may impede access by the UE of a core network, server, or the like. Therefore, a UE may establish a relay connection to access resources when the UE is outside of a coverage area provided by a base station or access point. In aspects, an apparatus may be configured to transmit, to a set of relay UEs, a first message associated with establishment of a relay connection. The apparatus may be further configured to receive a set of messages from the set of relay UEs. The apparatus may be further configured to establish the relay connection with a first relay UE of the set of relay UEs based on a message of the set of messages from the first relay UE.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices are described for transmissions and retransmissions of scheduling assignment (SA) information, and for content of SA transmissions. SAs may be transmitted during an initial communications period, followed by data transmissions for a certain time period. A device may monitor for transmissions during the SA period and then monitor for data transmissions during periods indicated in a received SA. SAs may be retransmitted according to a retransmission pattern that may provide time or frequency diversity patterns in order to enhance reception of SAs at a receiving device. Retransmission patterns may be determined based on a resource from an SA resource pool that is used for an initial transmission of the SA.

Abstract: An effective way for the cellular device-to-device communication and the short range communication to share a set of channels for communication is desired. The apparatus may be a user equipment (UE). The apparatus determines a priority level of each channel of a plurality of channels. The apparatus determines whether a first channel of the plurality of channels, the first channel having a highest priority level, is occupied by short range wireless communication. If the first channel is occupied by the short range wireless communication, the apparatus determines availability of one or more remaining channels of the plurality of channels for a cellular device-to-device (D2D) communication, where the one or more remaining channels are different from the first channel.
