Abstract: The disclosure relates to a 5G or 6G communication system for supporting a higher data transmission rate. Embodiments of the present disclosure provide a communication method and a user equipment. The method includes: receiving semi-static configuration information related to a cell DTX and/or a cell DRX, and/or, receiving dynamic adjustment signaling related to a cell DTX and/or a cell DRX; determining a state of the cell DTX and/or the cell DRX based on the semi-static configuration information and/or the dynamic adjustment signaling, wherein the state comprises an active time and an inactive time, i.e., in the embodiment of the embodiment of the present disclosure, using the cell DTX and/or cell DRX for the cell base station side is able to effectively reduce the power consumption of the communication base station by discontinuous transmission and/reception, and thus power saving can be achieved on the base station side.
