摘要: An image-reading device includes an image sensor, a clock generator, a resolution setting unit, and a resolution switching unit. The image sensor has a plurality of photodetectors arranged linearly. The clock generator generates clocks having a clock speed. The resolution setting unit sets a resolution of the image sensor. The resolution switching unit switches the resolution set by the resolution setting unit when one of the plurality of photodetectors has read a border pixel between a pixel segment inside the original document and a pixel segment outside the original document while reading one line of the original document.

摘要: A transmission line with a bending portion is provided, which line comprises any one of a coplanar line, another coplanar waveguide line formed on the dielectric substrate under which a ground layer is provided and a coplanar strip line. A chamfered portion is provided on the outer angular portion of the bending portion of the signal wiring conductor and a triangular conductor is disposed to an inner angular portion thereof. Given that length of the chamfered portion is defined as a, and length of the wiring edge side of the triangular conductor is defined as b and width of the signal wiring conductor is defined as c, it is arranged such that a is greater than b+c×square root of 2. Thereby, a transmission line or an optical module of smaller reflection loss at the bending portion thereof and of improved high-frequency characteristics is provided.

摘要: A media sensor 68 includes a cap 85 with a common opening 85b for restricting the beam spread of light emitted from a light-emitting element 82 and the range of light receivable by a light-receiving element 83, while suppressing the effects of disturbance. Accordingly, the media sensor 68 can prevent a decline in detection accuracy while using inexpensive elements with low directivity. Since the light-emitting element 82 and light-receiving element 83 are oriented perpendicularly to the paper P, the media sensor 68 is superior to sensors equipped with elements disposed at an angle to the paper P by avoiding a decline in detection accuracy caused by errors in the angular positioning of the elements, errors in angular positioning of the sensor itself, and the like, and by reducing the space required in the sensor to dispose the elements, thereby reducing the size of the sensor.
