摘要： An information recording medium including a plurality of sectors of the present invention includes: a first spare area including a spare sector for replacing a defective sector among the plurality of sectors; a defect management information area for managing the replacement of the defective sector by the spare sector; and a volume space in which user data can be recorded. The volume space is configured so that a second spare area including a spare sector for replacing a defective sector among the plurality of sectors can be additionally allocated. Location information indicating a location of the second spare area is recorded in the defect management information area.

The first and second defect management information areas 108 and 109 are located such that angles θ1 and θ2 made by start blocks thereof fulfill the relationships of 150°≦θ1≦210° and 150°≦θ2≦210° (θ1: in the case of the first recording density, and θ2: in the case of the second recording density).

According to this configuration, it is possible to guarantee the recording quality of a multilayered information recording medium.

摘要： A multi-layered information recording medium including a plurality of recording layers, the multi-layered information recording medium comprising: a user data area for recording user data; and a plurality of spare areas including at least one replacement region, wherein when the user data area includes at least one defect region, the at least one replacement region may be used in place of the at least one defect region, wherein a first spare area of the plurality of spare areas is positioned so as to be contiguous to a first user data area of a first recording layer, a second spare area of the plurality of spare areas is positioned so as to be contiguous to a second user data area of a second recording layer, and the first spare area and the second spare area are positioned approximately at the same radial position on the multi-layered information recording medium.

The defect list further includes N number of defect entries, located subsequent to the header, including position information on the respective positions of the N number of defect areas; and an anchor located subsequent to the defect entries.
