摘要: A needleless fluid delivery system for delivering therapeutic fluids to treatment sites within a patient. The fluid delivery system can include an automated injector source and a needleless access device. The access device can include a delivery scope and a treatment specific applicator. The automated injector source, delivery scope and applicator can be operably coupled with quick-connect style fittings so as to allow for quick replacement and maintenance of used or damaged components. The automated injector source can include a hands-free input mechanism allowing a medical professional to use both hands in manipulating the delivery scope and needleless applicator at the same time an injection is desired. The delivery scope and needleless applicator can comprise flexible or rigid lengths of tubing based on the accessibility of the treatment site. The needleless delivery system can include an imaging system for precisely position the applicator with respect to the treatment location.

摘要: A dilation catheter having a first shaft section, a second shaft section attached to the first shaft section, and an inflatable balloon attached to the second shaft section. A fluid pathway is defined through the catheter for inflation of the balloon. A guide wire lumen is provided in the second shaft section that can extend between the distal end of the balloon and a point distal of the first shaft section. A stiffening member is provided within the second shaft section of the dilation catheter to provide additional stiffness to the second shaft section. In a preferred embodiment, the stiffening member is attached at the distal end of the first shaft section to occlude the hollow passage of the first shaft section. In this embodiment, the first shaft section further includes a fluid port that is proximal of the stiffening member and that extends between the hollow passage of the first shaft section and the exterior of the first shaft section. The second shaft section overlaps the first shaft section so that the hollow passage of the second shaft section is in fluid communication with the fluid port of the first shaft section to define the fluid flow pathway. The stiffening member is free from fixed interconnection at its distal end, and includes a linear tapered region along a portion of its length to provide a gradient of stiffness to the second shaft section along the length of the stiffening member.

摘要: To improve the re-wrappability of the expander members used on balloon catheters subsequent to an initial inflation thereof, the balloon member is subjected to an annealing process in which the balloon member, in its wrapped configuration, is placed within a plastic sheath and it, together with the sheath, is then placed between the jaws of a clamping fixture where the jaws may be heated to a predetermined temperature. When the jaws are made to close on the sheath and the wrapped balloon contained within it, the wrapped balloon is subjected to a radial compressive pressure and a temperature approximately equal to or above the glass transition temperature for the balloon material utilized and then maintained at that temperature for a predetermined time interval. The annealing is found to introduce a memory component into the plastic of the balloon that causes it to assume a lower profile upon deflation than otherwise obtained.
