The hydrodynamic retarder is comprised of a rotor impeller wheel and a stator impeller wheel and is coordinated with the main drive train in a manner such that the rotor impeller wheel of the hydrodynamic retarder is driven by the drive train. The operating fluid of the hydrodynamic retarder is a medium used for cooling the vehicle and a clutch is arranged between the drive train and the hydrodynamic retarder.

摘要: The present invention involves a drive unit, specifically a drive unit for a motor vehicle having an internal combustion engine, a cooling system with fan and a hydrodynamic retarder with a stator, rotor and housing. The retarder is located within a space bounded on one side by the front of the crankcase, on a second side by the fan shaft which runs parallel to the engine shaft, and on a third side by the rear edge of the fan wheel. Viewed from the front, the retarder is substantially located within the fly circle of the fan wheel whereby the air flow generated by the fan wheel removes heat, generated by braking actions, from the housing of the retarder. The retarder housing comprises a bell and a cover body. The cover body defines a chamber having two outlets and an inlet. The chamber being in fluid communication with the working space of the retarder.

摘要: A hydrodynamic retarder for a vehicle has a primary part and a secondary part. The primary part has an input end connectable to the transmission output shaft of the vehicle and an output end connectable to the axle drive shaft. The fixed secondary part is, relative to the primary part, sealed against fluid discharge. A temperature sensor is provided for sensing the temperature of a working medium contained in the working circuit. A control system coordinated with a control valve is provided for adjusting by the cooling volume flow passed to the heat exchanger a specific temperature value of the working medium which has remained in the working circuit (set value). The set value of the temperature is so selected that it corresponds to a specific, desired braking moment.

摘要: In a hydrodynamic brake, forming an energy converting mechanism and used for example in connection with heat-exchangers in the utilization of wind-power installations, the torque characteristic of the hydrodynamic brake is adapted to suit the torque characteristic of the power source by making the stator radially displaceable into a position in which its axis is off-center from the axis of the rotor. The stator is eccentrically secured on a shaft and by rotatably mounting the shaft, in the housing, eccentrically of the rotor. In an alternative embodiment, the stator is guided in a rectilinear guide permitting radial displacement.
