摘要: A cooling-fan control device for a vehicle that increases the cooling capacity of a cooling oil that cools a brake rapidly and inhibits a brake damage in a case where the brake is applied during traveling or, in addition to the above-described problem-to-be-resolved, suppresses engine horsepower consumption and avoids consumption increase, while increasing the cooling capacity of the brake cooling oil. The rotation speed of the cooling fan is controlled to obtain the higher target rotation speed of a first target rotation speed corresponding to a detected cooling oil temperature and a second target rotation speed corresponding to a detected brake operation amount. The present invention is applicable to a vehicle in which an engine power is distributed to a travel power train and a hydraulic pump, drive wheels are operated via the travel power train, and the cooling fan is actuated via the hydraulic pump.

摘要: A preferred embodiment supplemental heating system is fluidly connectable to a vehicle cooling system and includes a liquid heat generator operable for heating a cooling fluid delivered to the supplemental heating system from the vehicle's cooling system. The liquid heat generator includes a discharge passage connectable to a heater core of the vehicle and a inlet passage connectable to the vehicle's cooling system. The supplemental heating system further includes a control valve having an inlet connectable to an exit passage of a heater core of the vehicle, a discharge passage fluidly connected to the liquid heat generator, and a second discharge passage connectable to the vehicle's cooling system. The control valve is operable for controlling the proportion of cooling fluid exiting the heater core that is returned to the vehicle's cooling system and recirculated back to the liquid heat generator.

摘要: A drive unit includes a hydrodynamic retarder having a rotor paddle wheel, a stator paddle wheel, and a housing surrounding the rotor and stator wheels. The unit includes a coolant cycle system for an internal combustion engine, the coolant for this coolant cycle also being a working medium of the retarder. The drive unit further includes a working medium container for the coolant which is connected to the coolant cycle system. A connecting pipe is disposed between the working medium container and a hydrodynamic center of the retarder. A valve is disposed in the connecting pipe.

The unit includes a coolant circuit whose coolant is at the same time the working medium of the retarder, and the retarder can be utilized as a coolant pump. The retarder is arranged before the gearbox, and the retarder can be united with an engine brake to an overall brake unit (OBU). The overall brake unit is configured such that the retarder can in a braking operation engage sooner than the engine brake.

The control strategy integrates various functions of engine control including an acceleration balance test for the engine cylinders, a fuel economy vehicle speed limit adder, a fueling limit for high altitude vehicle operation, throttle logic, a data-hub for operation trending and vehicle component lifing analyses, a gear ratio torque limit, an air temperature based torque limit, enhanced fan control, and an idle shutdown strategy based on ambient temperature.

The cooling fan is turned on or off according to a predetermined strategy and inputs from several engine parameter sensors. By disengaging the cooling fan when it is not needed for engine cooling, the fan control reduces the power that is unnecessarily drawn from the engine to drive the fan.

摘要: A dual cooling system comprises first and second closed circuits, each circuit including an air-to-liquid radiator therein. The first circuit is adapted to cool an internal combustion engine whereas the second circuit functions to cool air discharged from a turbocharger to the intake manifold of an internal combustion engine. The system may comprise means for bypassing the radiators when temperature levels fall below predetermined levels and a single supply and expansion tank for supplying the two circuits with cooling fluid. A baffle is positioned in the tank''s chamber to divide it into two compartments with each compartment communicating with one of the circuits.
