Abstract:
Images are analyzed by programmatic mechanisms for assessing one or more remote web pages to retrieve content on display at remote web pages. The retrieved images may be analyzed to determine information about an object shown in a corresponding images of the content on display. At least a portion of the object shown in the corresponding image of the content on display may be made selectable and associated with the determined information. This determined information may subsequently be used, in for example, search applications.
Abstract:
Embodiments described herein provide a system and method for providing merchandise items at a network site. According to an embodiment, an image of a merchandise item is obtained. The image is programmatically analyzed to determine information about the merchandise item. The information is used to generate a presentation that includes the merchandise item.
Abstract:
Embodiments described herein provide for a system for creating a data collection of recognized images. The system includes an image analysis module that is configured to programmatically analyze individual images in a collection of images in order to determine information about each image in the collection. The system may also include a manual interface that is configured to (i) interface with one or more human editors, and (ii) displays a plurality of panels concurrently. Individual panels may be provided for one or more analyzed images, and individual panels may be configured to display information that is at least indicative of the one or more images of that panel and/or of the information determined from the one or more images. Additionally, the manual interface enables the one or more human editors to view the plurality of panels concurrently and to interact with each of the plurality of panels in order to correct or remove any information that is incorrectly determined from the image of that panel.
Abstract:
In at least some embodiments, a system may comprise a user voice interface, a processor coupled to the user voice interface, wherein the processor interprets words spoken by a user, and a memory coupled to the processor, wherein the memory stores an email application, wherein the email application summarizes email messages and navigates a plurality of email messages according to the words spoken by the user.

Abstract:
Methods, systems and machine-readable instructions for processing an electronic document are described. In one aspect, logical blocks that were extracted from the electronic document, including a text block comprising text lines each encompassed by a respective bounding rectangle, are received. Edges of ones of the bounding rectangles are extended to at least one boundary without changing layout relationships among the logical blocks in the electronic document. A text layout boundary is generated from extended and unextended edges of the bounding rectangles. A description of the text layout boundary is stored in a machine-readable medium.

Abstract:
A system and method for extracting demographic information from a contact is disclosed. The method discloses: initiating a dialog between a contact and a call handling system; selecting a set of demographic characteristics; assigning a set of acoustic confidence scores; assigning a set of substantive confidence scores; combining the acoustic and substantive confidence scores; and tailoring information presented to the contact using the set of combined confidence scores. The system discloses: an Interactive Voice Response module for initiating a dialog between a contact and a call handling system, and selecting a set of demographic characteristics; an acoustic classifier for assigning a set of acoustic confidence scores; a substantive classifier for assigning a set of substantive confidence scores; and a data combiner for combining the acoustic and substantive confidence scores. The Interactive Voice Response module also tailors information presented to the contact using the set of combined confidence scores.
Abstract:
Methods, machines, systems and machine-readable instructions for producing marketing items are described. In one aspect, a user is prompted to specify campaign parameters, including one or more campaign topics, defining a scope of the campaign. The user is prompted to specify for each of the one or more campaign topics a corresponding set of one or more attributes of intended recipients of the marketing campaign. The one or more specified campaign topics are associated to respective sets of targeted recipients selected from a database of records of potential recipients based on mappings of the respective sets of recipient attributes to the campaign topics and the specified campaign parameters defining the scope of the marketing campaign. For each of the targeted recipients, a respective marketing item containing a respective set of one or more contents matched to the campaign topic associated to the targeted recipient is composed.
Abstract:
Methods and systems for processing derivative features in input files are described. An input file, e.g., an XML file, may contain elements which are supported by an existing format (e.g., XSL-FO) as well as elements which are not supported by the existing format. Those which are not supported by the existing format are replaced by elements which are supported to implement the derivative feature.
