摘要: Disclosed is a method of removing heavy metals contained in exhaust gas which has been generated by burning a waste liquid containing the heavy metals discharged in a process of producing organic compounds. The method includes the steps in the order of: (a) a combustion step of burning the waste liquid to produce exhaust gas; (b) a gas-liquid contact step of rendering a liquid containing an alkali compound in contact with the exhaust gas to collect the heavy metals in bottoms of the liquid; and (c) a coagulating step of adding a coagulant to the bottoms to coagulate the heavy metals in the bottoms for removal of the heavy metals. According to this method, the heavy metals contained in the exhaust gas can be efficiently separated and removed.

摘要: The present invention provides an apparatus for handling an easily polymerizable compound such as (meth)acrylic acid which includes a tubular member that is furnished to a side wall of the apparatus and opened to the inside of the apparatus, specifically, for example, an apparatus and a method which effectively inhibit the polymerization of (meth)acrylic acid in a distillation column for (meth)acrylic acid wherein the distillation column has such as an inlet or outlet of gas or liquid, a manhole, or a tube into which an instrument is inserted. The tubular member (e.g. an inlet or outlet, a manhole, a tube into which an instrument is inserted) is set so as to have a downward gradient (&agr;) in the range of 3° to 70° toward the inside of the apparatus.

摘要: A method of recovering ethylene sulfide from a hydrous stock solution (solution) containing ethylene sulfide, toluene (hydrophobic organic compound) having a higher boiling point than ethylene sulfide, and a compound having a higher boiling point than toluene, by distilling the stock solution continuously using a continuous fractionating tower 2, a fractionating tower 4, and a rectifying tower 5. Ethylene sulfide is distilled out with toluene and water from the continuous fractionating tower 2, and the distillate is allowed to separate into an oil layer and a water layer in a separating tank 3. The oil layer is distilled continuously by the fractionating tower 4 without being subjected to a reflux operation to distill out water with a part of ethylene sulfide. The bottom product from the fractionating tower 4 is rectified by the rectifying tower 5 to recover ethylene sulfide. Consequently, the polymerization reaction of ethylene sulfide can be suppressed and ethylene sulfide can be separated and recovered continuously in an efficient and stable manner. Also, the clogging of fractionating towers and pipes can be prevented.

摘要: [Problem] A plasma display device is provided which is capable of reducing an afterimage (burning) in a short time.[Means to solve the problem] At start time of first afterimage reduction driving mode, the number of times of discharge corresponds to first driving power, then gradually to second driving power and, at its termination time, the number of times of discharge corresponds to the second driving power, then gradually, to the first driving power. At start time of third afterimage reduction driving mode, power to be supplied to each region changes from the first driving power gradually to the fourth driving power and, at its termination time, the driving power changes from the first driving power to the fourth driving power and, at its termination, the driving power changes from the fourth driving power gradually to the first driving power. At start time of second afterimage reduction mode, the number of times of discharge corresponds to the first driving power, then gradually to the third driving power.

摘要: A digital single-lens reflex camera determines whether a predetermined time has passed since the start of display. If the predetermined time has not passed yet, the camera performs face detection to determine if a user is looking into an optical finder of the camera. When the face detection is performed, a system control circuit identifies the present content displayed. When the displayed content is an ordinary image, photographing information, or attention-seeking alert, display of the content is immediately stopped. When the displayed content is alert prohibiting imaging, it is checked whether a switch operation has been performed. If the switch operation has not been performed at all, or a switch operation for canceling the displayed alert has not been performed, timer counting is cleared before the timer counting is initiated again.
