Abstract:
A dielectric radiator antenna arrangement for a communication device having a ground plane is provided. The antenna arrangement may include a dielectric volume having a central axis normal to the ground plane, and mode-exciting elements. The mode-exciting elements may include a first mode-exciting element provided in or attached to the dielectric volume and extending in a plane provided at a first distance from the central axis perpendicular to the ground plane, and a second mode-exciting element provided in or attached to the dielectric volume and extending in a plane provided at a second distance from the central axis and perpendicular to both the ground plane and the plane of the first mode-exciting element. The antenna arrangement can be used for simultaneously transmitting and receiving more than one signal at one frequency with reduced coupling.
Abstract:
An antenna for use in a portable electronic communication apparatus has a pattern of a conductive material. The pattern of conductive material is printed on the Printed Circuit Board (PCB) (7), comprising the RF circuitry of the portable electronic communication apparatus, to which antenna pattern is connected. The pattern comprises a first and second antenna arm, which together for a PIFA antenna and are resonating in a first and second frequency band, respectively. As an alternative, the antenna pattern forms a multi-port antenna having separate antenna arms for Rx and Tx, respectively.
Abstract:
A radio telephone, preferably intended for cellular telecommunication, has an apparatus housing (20) and at least one antenna (21), which is mounted to or in connection with the apparatus housing for performing the wireless communication of the radio telephone by transmitting and receiving radiofrequent electromagnetic waves in a given wavelength range. A current-reducing means (30, 31) is mounted to the apparatus housing (20) between the antenna (21) and a side (23) of the radio telephone, which during normal use faces a human user (1). The means has conductive as well as dielectric properties and is arranged to reduce or eliminate electric currents present in and/or on the apparatus housing (20) between the antenna (21) and said side (23) of the radio telephone.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a radio communication device having a multi-band swivel antenna assembly. The antenna assembly includes a multi-band radiating antenna element and a multi-band sleeve which allows the antenna to be tuned to multiple resonances. The multi-band antenna element and sleeve are attached to the chassis of the communication device via a coaxial feeding cable which serves to isolate those elements from the chassis.
Abstract:

The antenna system may also include first and second antennas spaced apart from each other along the end portion of the backplate. The antenna system may additionally include a parasitic element between the first and second antennas along the end portion of the backplate.
Abstract:
A method of operating an electronic device includes providing a plurality of antenna elements, evaluating a wireless communication performance criterion to obtain a performance evaluation, and assigning a first one of the plurality of antenna elements to a main wireless signal reception and transmission path and a second one of the plurality of antenna elements to a diversity wireless signal reception path based on the performance evaluation.
Abstract:
Wireless electronic devices may include a backplate and first and second curved antennas spaced apart from each other along an end portion of the backplate. Each of the first and second curved antennas may include a radiating element and a parasitic element electrically coupled to the radiating element. Related systems are also described.
Abstract:
A wireless communication device includes a transceiver configured for communication using multiple radio access technologies. An antenna array is coupled to the transceiver, and includes a first antenna element and a second antenna element. A control circuit is operable to detect an available one of the radio access technologies based on a wireless signal received at the antenna array, and is operable to automatically alter a configuration of the antenna array by switching the first and/or second antenna elements between active and inactive states responsive to detection of the available one of the radio access technologies. Related methods of operation are also discussed.
Abstract:
An antenna assembly may include a printed wiring board (PWB) and a dielectric substrate including a first antenna pattern, the dielectric substrate being configured to be mounted on the PWB. The antenna assembly may include a second antenna pattern that may be configured to be used as a radiating element of an FM Tx antenna or a Near Field Communication (NFC) antenna. The second antenna pattern may be provided a) on/in the dielectric substrate, or b) on the PWB at the interface between the dielectric substrate and the PWB, or c) partly on a surface of the dielectric substrate and partly on a surface of said PWB.
Abstract:
An antenna arrangement comprising a multi-layer PCB (10) with a ground plane (20) in a first layer and a first antenna (11) in a second layer, and an extended ground plane (20) connected to the ground plane of the PCB. A second antenna (110, 120, 130, 140, 150) is formed integral with the extended ground plane (20). The extended ground plane is positioned opposite the first antenna.
