摘要: A rotary type railroad car coupler is provided with a symmetrical and invertible yoke. A yoke collar, constructed so as to be capable of being reversible, is disposed within a cavity of the yoke. In one preferred embodiment, a pin connecting a shank of the coupler to the yoke collar is positioned so as to be equidistant from both ends of the yoke collar. Thus, as one end of the yoke collar becomes worn, the collar can be reversed. Improved yoke collar service life is obtained.

摘要: A pair of elongated latches positioned transversely to a longitudinal axis of a railroad car particularly adapted to be rotated to an upside down position for gravity release of contents within the car, are pivotally attached respectively on each side of a top of a coupler lock. The coupler lock is an operative part of a coupler for the railroad car. The lock is movable within a lock chamber formed in a head of the coupler and is defined in part by vertical sidewalls and a roof or top wall. A configuration of each latch and relative position to the lock chamber sidewalls is such that a center of gravity of each latch lies above its pivot connection which insures that regardless of the direction of rotation of the car, at least one of the latches readily swings to an extended position to engage the top wall of the lock chamber and thereby prevent an inadvertent release of the lock when the car and at least one pair of mated couplers are rotated toward an inverted position for emptying contents of the car.

The obstacle-free cavity is defined by a top and a bottom member, sidewalls each having an elliptical opening therein and two spaced vertically inclined lateral ribs which distribute the weight of a body of the car between the top and bottom members.

摘要: A winged friction shoe is provided to frictionally engage both the side frame column and bolster in order to control the oscillating movement of the latter. The wings of the friction shoe are formed with a surface which is inclined with respect to the surface which they engage to provide a couple force which urges the shoe into lateral alignment with a friction surface when the friction surface and shoe are initially in a laterally non-parallel relationship.

The liner is welded in place only along the lateral edges of the liner and is retained in place, in the event of weld failure, by depending legs engageable with pedestal jaw stop lugs. 摘要: The keyslot of a railway coupler shank is modified to eliminate the interference between the coupler shank and draft key during conditions of buff or draft during vertical curve negotiation of the cars when traversing uneven track. The upper and lower walls of the keyslot diverge from the rear bearing surface of the keyslot adjacent the butt of the coupler shank. Thus the keyslot opening is wider in the front portion than at the rear portion.

摘要: A turbocharger compressor housing apparatus comprises a compressor housing and diffuser. These components are configured to provide an interference fit when assembled. An annular projection extends outwardly from one of such components toward the other of the components and engages the other of the components to form an annular joint. One of the compressor housing and diffuser comprises a recess positioned to collect debris generated during the interference fit to prevent the debris from reaching the annular joint. A second recess can be provided at the opposite side of the projection to accommodate deformation of the projection during assembly of the diffuser and compressor housing. The recesses can be annular and can, along with the projection, be included in the diffuser.
