Abstract: A technique facilitates monitoring fluid phases of a multiphase flow during, for example, well fluid production operations. According to an embodiment, data may be obtained from devices, such as chokes and pressure sensors. This data is then processed to identify phases of the multiphase well fluid flow. The use of data from such well related devices effectively establishes a virtual multiphase flowmeter. However, the output from the virtual multiphase flowmeter may be calibrated periodically by taking measurements from an actual multiphase flowmeter. In some embodiments, the data from a plurality of flow meters having differing physical operating principles may be correlated in a manner to obtain additional parameters related to the multiphase well fluid flow.

Abstract: Valves having seats and counterseats with various contours are provided. In one embodiment, a valve includes a body and a flow control assembly inside the body. The flow control assembly includes a ball, a seat installed on the ball, and a counterseat. The ball is rotatable between open and closed positions to control flow through the body and the seat and counterseat include mating surfaces that engage when the ball is in the closed position such that the seat seals against the counterseat along the mating surfaces. Further, the mating surface of the counterseat can be a concave surface, the mating surface of the seat can be a convex surface, and at least one of the mating surfaces can have a toroidal contour.

Abstract: Systems and methods presented herein generally relate to greenhouse gas emission monitoring and, more particularly, to a greenhouse gas emission monitoring workflow using various different types of sensors. For example, a system includes a plurality of sensors located within an oil and gas worksite. At least one sensor of the plurality of sensors is configured to detect a status of equipment at the oil and gas worksite. The system also includes a greenhouse gas emission analysis system configured to receive sensor data from the plurality of sensors. The greenhouse gas emission analysis system is also configured to correlate the sensor data from the plurality of sensors (e.g., using one or more reduced order models (ROMs) that reduce the computational complexity of computational fluid dynamics model simulations of previously collected data relating to operation of the oil and gas worksite). The greenhouse gas emission analysis system is further configured to determine an existence of a greenhouse gas emission within the oil and gas worksite, a location of the greenhouse gas emission within the oil and gas worksite, and a quantity of the greenhouse gas emission within the oil and gas worksite based at least in part on the correlation.

Abstract: Apparatus and methods for measuring backlash of a gear train of a pump unit for pumping a fluid. An example method may include locking a crankshaft of the pump unit such that the crankshaft cannot rotate. The method may further include commencing operation of a processing device to receive rotational position measurements indicative of rotational position of an output shaft of a prime mover, cause the prime mover to rotate the output shaft in a first direction until the output shaft reaches a first rotational position, and cause the prime mover to rotate the output shaft in a second direction until the output shaft reaches a second rotational position. The processing device may then determine backlash of the gear train by determining rotational distance between the first rotational position of the output shaft and the second rotational position of the output shaft.

Abstract: An apparatus includes a valve having a hollow body and an inner sealing assembly positioned in the hollow body. The inner sealing assembly includes a piston and can be moved between an open position and a closed position to selectively control flow along a flow path through the valve. The flow path includes a bore of the piston that allows flow through the piston, and pressure within the valve from a fluid in the flow path within the valve biases the inner sealing assembly toward the closed position to stop flow through the valve. Additional systems, devices, and methods are also disclosed.

Abstract: A MEG reclamation process includes the step of increasing above 2,000 ppm the divalent metal salts concentration of a rich (wet) MEG feed stream flowing into a precipitator. The increasing step includes routing a salts-saturated MEG slipstream from the flash separator it to the precipitator. The slipstream may be mixed with a fresh water feed stream, a portion of the rich MEG feed stream, or some combination of the two. The rich MEG feed stream also may be split into two streams, with a portion of the stream being heated and routed to the flash separator and the other portion being combined as above with the removed slipstream. The process can be performed on the slipstream after dilution and prior to entering the precipitator or after being loaded into the precipitator. Removal of the insoluble salts may be done in either a batch or continuous mode.

Abstract: A fingerboard has a first portion configured to receive a first pipe and a second portion configured to receive a second pipe. The fingerboard includes a fixed section and a movable section, each having fingers and latches that define a pipe receiving space. The pipe receiving space of the fixed section is sized for drill pipe while the pipe receiving space of the movable section may be the same size as the pipe receiving space of the fixed section or a different size than the pipe receiving space of the fixed section. The movable section has a first and a second pipe receiving spaces. The second pipe receiving space may be larger than the first pipe receiving space. A hinge moves the movable section to selectively locate the first pipe receiving portion and the second pipe receiving portion adjacent to the fixed section. A mover, such as a hydraulic cylinder, is affixed to the movable section.
