    Abstract: Example architectural opening coverings powered by rotary motors are described. An example an architectural covering comprises a rotatable member, a covering mounted to said rotatable member, a motor to rotate a drive shaft, and a drive shaft coupling structured to: couple the drive shaft to said rotatable member to rotate said rotatable member to raise said covering when said motor is energized to rotate the drive shaft in a first direction, and substantially prevent the drive shaft from applying torque to said rotatable member when said motor is energized to rotate the drive shaft in a second direction to lower said covering.

    Abstract: In one aspect, a shutter assembly includes a shutter frame and a plurality of louvers supported by the frame. The shutter assembly also includes a louver drive assembly and a motor positioned within the frame. The motor is configured to rotationally drive a drive shaft extending within the frame. Additionally, the shutter assembly includes a clutch assembly rotationally coupled between the drive shaft and the louver drive assembly. The clutch assembly is configured to disengage or decouple the drive shaft from the louver drive assembly when a torque transmitted through the clutch assembly exceeds a given torque threshold.

    Abstract: An architectural covering including a motor assembly is provided. The covering may include a head rail, an end cap enclosing an end of the head rail, a roller tube rotatably supported within the head rail at least partially by the end cap, and a motor assembly including a housing in splined engagement with the end cap to non-rotatably secure the motor assembly to the end cap. The motor assembly may be received at least partially within the roller tube and may be in driving engagement with the roller tube. A covering material may be attached to the roller tube such that rotation of the roller tube extends or retracts the covering material.

    Abstract: An architectural covering assembly includes a rotatable roller tube, a covering coupled to the rotatable roller tube, and first and second limit screws each having respective first and second ends. The second end of the first limit screw can engage the first end of the second limit screw. One of the limit screws is rotationally and axially fixed with respect to an end plate. The other of the limit screws is movable between rotationally locked and rotationally unlocked positions with respect to the end plate. Limit nuts are threadably coupled to external threads of the limit screws. In the rotationally locked position the one of the limit screws is axially and rotationally fixed with respect to the end plate, and in the rotationally unlocked position the other of the limit screws is rotationally movable with respect to the end plate to adjust an extension or retraction limit of the covering.

    Abstract: Example dual mode architectural structure coverings are described herein. The dual mode operation permits the covering to be operated by a motor and also manually by a user. An example dual mode architectural structure covering includes a covering, a drive shaft, a drive motor having a motor drive shaft, and a dual mode operation system. The dual mode operation system includes a bearing housing rotationally coupled with respect to the motor drive shaft and a slip clutch rotationally coupled with respect to the drive shaft. The bearing housing and the slip clutch are operatively associated with a one-way bearing. Rotation of the one-way bearing in a first direction causes the bearing to lock, while rotation of the one-way bearing in a second direction, causes the bearing to free rotate. In this manner, manual operation of the covering will not damage the motor or other shade components.

    Abstract: A system for biasing or encouraging a sheet of material to gather in one direction when one edge of the sheet of material is moved toward an opposite edge of the sheet of material is provided. A plurality of strips of material may extend along a face of the sheet of material and may be laminated to the face of the sheet of material. The plurality of strips of material may overlap each other and may define stiffened regions extending along the overlapped interface between the plurality of strips of material. When the covering is moved from an extended position to a retracted position, the sheet of material may gather in loops of material that may have apexes defined at or adjacent the overlapped interfaces of the plurality of strips of material.

    Abstract: A retractable cover for architectural openings having collapsible vanes includes a support structure in the form of a sheet of material, monofilaments, tapes, ribbons, cords, or the like, supporting an upper edge of a plurality of vertically spaced, horizontally extending vanes with the lower edges of the vanes in most embodiments of the invention being connected to operating elements adapted to raise the lower edges of each vane toward the upper edges to define openings or gaps between the vanes through which vision and light can pass in an open condition of the covering. Variations of the covering do not require movement of a lower edge of a vane relative to an upper edge but simply movement of some vanes relative to other vanes. The vanes can be made of materials having different flexibilities and where more rigid materials are used, creased fold lines can be established for desired operability.

An example system includes a first architectural opening covering assembly to identify a first position of a first covering as a first reference position in response to a first command to store a first speed at which the first assembly is to be driven. The first assembly is to operate a first motor to move the first covering at the first stored speed in response to a second command. The example system includes a second architectural opening covering assembly to store a second speed at which the second covering is to be driven in response to a third command. The second assembly is to operate a second motor at the second stored speed in response to a fourth command to move the second covering.
