Abstract:
A method of forming a desiccating part including the steps of: (a) blending a composition comprising: at least 60 wt % desiccant, up to 10 wt % wetting agent, up to 5 wt % processing aid, and 10-30 wt % thermosetting resin; (b) forming the composition blended in step (a) into a part or shape; and (c) heating the part or shape of step (b) to crosslink the resin. Also included is a desiccating part comprising at least 70 wt % desiccant and a thermosetting binder resin.
Abstract:
An extruded or molded article containing iron based oxygen scavenger, electrolytes, activated carbon, silica gel, or other water absorbing media, and optionally pore formers, is subjected to deformation to create voids or porosity, and subjected to water spraying or dipping to obtain a water activity of 0.4 or higher. The article is placed in a container or package containing oxygen sensitive articles.
Abstract:
A material handling apparatus for conveying an article having a ferromagnetic component includes a hopper, a discharge, and a magnet. The hopper has an inlet and outlet and defines a hopper volume for receiving a plurality of the articles to be conveyed. The discharge is spaced from and downstream of the hopper. The magnet is movable between an attracting position proximate the hopper and a discharge position proximate the discharge.
Abstract:
A sorbent container includes a plurality of sealed pockets connected in a strip. At least one of the pockets is a filled pocket containing a quantity of sorbent material. A pocket adjacent to the filled pocket is empty.
Abstract:
The invention provides a method of preserving baked goods comprising placing the baked goods in package and inserting an absorber for hexanal into the package.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a package for protein containing foods comprising a sealable food covering and, in the interior of the covering, a permeable container wherein an oxidizer is in the permeable container oxidizer substantially irreversibly reacts with biogenic amines within the covering to form compounds without objectionable odor or toxicity; in another embodiment the invention provides a package for protein containing foods comprising a sealable food covering and, in the interior of the covering, a permeable container wherein an unreactive absorbent is in the permeable container and the unreactive absorbent absorbs, but does not react with biogenic amines within the covering to largely remove the biogenic amines from the package.

Abstract:
A sorbent container includes a permeable plastic container, a permeable membrane, and a sorbent. The permeable plastic container includes a sidewall and an endwall, the sidewall defining an opening opposite the endwall. The permeable membrane is fused to the sidewall to cover the opening. A fused junction is formed between the sidewall and the permeable membrane. The sorbent is disposed within the plastic container.
Abstract:
An oxygen absorber includes iron, chabazite, water and glycerin. The oxygen absorber provides quicker oxygen uptake without excessive heating.
