A large amount of area is provided for printing yet the reply envelope produced accepts a conventional size personal check without folding. The outgoing address is visible through a window and a first ply of the mailer, the outgoing address printed on the second ply of the mailer. The second and third plies of the mailer have a first perforation line which allows separation into a reply envelope and coupons or stubs, at least one of which can be returned to the entity sending out the outgoing mailer, and the reply address for the return envelope is printed on the top face of the second, middle, ply of the mailer.

摘要： A machine allows the production of pressure sealed business forms either by a "steam roller" effect for two ply forms, or by using a number of dual roller cassettes spaced from each other along axis of rotation when forms with inserts are handled. The first roller in each cassette, after sealing a portion of the leading edge of the form that it engages, will rock out of the way when engaged by the form at the insert, and then will drop back down and seal the trailing edge. The narrow width rollers of end cassettes will seal the longitudinal edges of the form. The stationary axis rollers that are common to both the "steam roller" and cassette embodiments have a dead-shaft construction, and are driven by a motor. Side frame plates mount all of the components, except the motor, within a housing, on rails, so that they can be easily moved out of the housing for changeover from one roller system to the other. The steam roller type idler rollers also have a dead-shaft construction and are suspended in the X, Y, and Z axes by leaf spring cantilevers.

The mounting device includes an inner tubular element, an outer segmented tubular element, and a tubular nut. A through extending radial opening is provided in each segment of the outer element, and a circumferential groove in the outer surface of the inner element with first and second axially spaced radially extending walls. A collar (which may be the hub of a sprocket, gear, cam, pulley, roller, or other machine element) surrounds the outer element at the radial openings, and has its own radial openings through which a plurality of fasteners extend into the inner element circumferential groove, and are engageable with the radially extending walls to provide a stop for relative axial movement of the inner and outer elements with respect to each other. A disc connected to the nut allows the nut to be tightened without a wrench.

Nip rolls receive the forms driven in a first direction and accelerate the forms to make them airborne until they hit an adjustable abutment on the opposite side of an endless belt conveyor from the nip rolls. The endless belt conveyor conveys the forms in a second horizontal direction substantially perpendicular to the first direction. The forms may be shingled when moved both in the first and second directions, or can be deshingled by controlling the aspect ratio of the forms, the ratio of speeds of the elements, and the degree of shingling.

摘要： A cardboard carton is constructed that is particularly useful for holding a stack of paper so that individual cut sheets from the stack may be readily removed. The carton bottom has an open top and substantially open ends and closed sides, while the carton top has a Z-fold top panel, and one or more tear strips between adhesive connecting the carton top to the carton bottom and the main part of the carton top. The carton bottom, with its open top facing downwardly, is either moved over a stack of paper, or formed over the stack of paper. Then it is rotated 180.degree. about a horizontal axis (as by pivoting a U-shaped continuous conveyor about a horizontal axis), and conveyed to a station where it is moved with respect to a carton top so that the open bottom of the carton top goes over the carton bottom, and then is glued in place. Two opposite flaps on the carton lid may be glued to the bottom surface of the carton bottom panel to provide a lifting space beneath the carton. The side and end flaps of the carton bottom may be connected to the bottom panel by perforations to allow ready detachment.

摘要： A versatile paperboard panel can be used to attach identifying (e.g. price) information to a wide variety of articles. A release coating is applied to a first face of the panel, and a label having an adhesive face is disposed over the panel with the adhesive in contact with the release coating. A perforation allows separation of the panel into first and second portions. The first portion contains the label, and the second portion includes an opening capable of receiving an attachment mechanism (such as a hook or string). A number of panels may be provided in a cut or continuous sheet that may be fed through a printer, the sheet having a first layer of paperboard which forms the panels, and a second layer of paper which forms the labels, with adhesive attached to the paper and a release coat to the panel. The labels are die cut from the second layer, and the panels are die cut from the first layer. Tractor holes may be provided along edges of the sheet to facilitate feeding through a printer, which prints the identifying indicia on the labels. The panels may be used by placing an attachment mechanism connected to the article into association with the panel second portion opening, or removing the label from the panel and applying it to the article, or separating the panel along the perforation and attaching the first portion of the panel (with the label still attached) to the article (e.g. by sliding it into a channel).

摘要： The business form assembly includes an integrated mailer and return envelope comprising first, second, third and fourth plies having first, second, third and fourth edges. The first and third edges of the four plies are adhesively secured one to the other. Additional lines of adhesive are inset from a tear strip containing the adhesive securing the first, second, third and fourth plies to one another for securing the second and third plies to one another. The second and third plies are inset along second and fourth edges to enable adhesive securement of the first and fourth plies along the first and fourth edges to one another. A return envelope flap is formed by a fold line in the third ply. A registering line of perforations in the second ply defines the back face of the return envelope and a record-keeping portion between the line of perforations and the fourth edge. Upon detachment of that record-keeping portion and insertion of it, together with other materials, in the return envelope, the return envelope may be returned to the sender. Thus, the mailer with return inserts may be formed solely of four plies. A fifth ply is used as a fly sheet.

摘要： A reuseable mailer type business form has an initial mailing configuration addressed to an outgoing addressee, and a reply mailing configuration addressed to a reply addressee. The mailer complies with the postal requirement that no part of the outgoing address or postage (including postal service applied bar coding) appear on the mailer in the reply configuration. The mailer includes a front opaque ply with at least one cut-out, and at least one removable strip adjacent an edge, including a perforation line. Postage indicia are visible at the upper right-hand corner of the front ply. A rear opaque ply has a fold line adjacent an edge, and coincident with the perforation line of the front ply. A flap is defined between the fold line and the adjacent edge. At least one insert ply (between the front and rear plies) having outgoing address information visible through the cutout when the mailer is in the initial mailing configuration is provided. Various structures are provided for rendering non-viewable all outgoing addressee postage information when the mailer is converted between the initial and reply configurations. Such structure can be a second removable strip adjacent a different edge than the first removable strip, or a second cutout provided in the front ply for viewing the outgoing postage (on the insert ply).
