    摘要: An apparatus is disclosed for applying tags with attached elastic anchor bands onto the tops of objects such as bottles in a high speed packaging application. The apparatus includes an infeed assembly for feeding a web, a conveyor assembly that receives a web and conveys it along a path in an upstream direction, a rotating selector wheel, a placement assembly, a pair of rotating jaw assemblies, a vacuum cup of the selector wheel, and stretched elastic bands over the tops of respective bottles being conveyed along a path below the placing assembly. The elastic bands then snap onto the tops of their respective bottles to secure the tags to the bottles.

    摘要: The invention refers to coatings on different substrates, whereby a hydrophilic polymer layer is bound by means of a polymer adhesion promoter layer to a substrate. A method for the production of these layer systems is disclosed as well. The layers according to the invention can be used as immobilization matrix and for the suppression of non-specific protein adsorption in biosensors, MALDI targets and other bioanalytical devices. Furthermore they can be used for the bio-compatibilization of implants and for the coating of contact lenses. Optical elements, which are provided with such coatings, do not fog up any more. Beyond that the layers are dirt-deflecting and/or self-cleaning.

    摘要: An improved balloon catheter seal which may be used for attaching an inflatable balloon to a catheter body, especially when the balloon and catheter body are formed from dissimilar materials. The seal is formed by applying a layer of adhesive material between the inflatable balloon and the catheter body, and crimping a retaining ring over each seal junction. The invention is especially useful when joining a compliant balloon made from silicone to a catheter body made from polyurethane.

    摘要: Integrally stiffened and formed, load carrying structures comprising a plurality of elongated thin-walled tubes placed co-extensively in a complementary side-by-side fashion which together form a hollow structure having a desired external contour. Integral skins forming the external and internal surfaces of the structure cooperatively therewith. The structure can be formed with an underlying internal support member spanning the interior of the load carrying structure, thereby connecting opposite sides of the structure together. Also, each of the tubes are wound with fibers in controlled orientations generally paralleling the direction of the loads applied to the tubes to optimize the strength to weight ratio of the tubes.

    摘要: A method of coating of steel products such as plate and sheet using an aluminum-zinc coating alloy includes modifying the coating bath with a particulate compound constituent in effective amounts to control the spangle facet size of the coated product, improve tension bend rust stain performance, and improve coated product paintability. Constituents include borides such as titanium boride and aluminum borides, carbides such as titanium carbide, andaluminides such as titanium aluminide. The method produces a coated steel product does not require temper rolling for painting.
