摘要： A cleat for attachment to a device having a power cord. The cleat includes a center support attached to the device for selectively retaining the power cord adjacent to the device. A pair of cord retaining arms extend from the center support in opposite directions. The pair of cord retaining arms are supported by the center support for rectilinear movement between an extended position forming a cord wrapping pocket between each of the arms and the device for retaining the power cord about the center support and in the pockets and a retracted position closing the arms for releasing the power cord from the center support. In a preferred embodiment, the cleat further includes an intercoupling mechanism interconnecting the pair of arms for synchronous movement of one of the arms in response to the rectilinear movement of the other arm. The synchronous movement is movement in a direction opposite and through the same distance as the other arm. The intercoupling mechanism includes a first rack attached to one of the arms, a second rack attached to the other arm, and a ring gear meshed between the first rack and the second rack.

摘要： Structure for converting a powered brush vacuum cleaner selectively to define a powder carpet cleaning apparatus. The conversion structure includes a shroud received within the nozzle. In one form, the shroud is movably mounted within the nozzle for selective disposition in a retracted position, permitting use of the nozzle in the normal vacuum cleaning manner, and in an operative position blocking the entrance to the suction passage for permitting the unit to be used as powder carpet cleaner. The shroud defines a smooth inner surface surrounding a portion of the brush for effectively preventing clogging of the space about the brush during the carpet cleaning operation. An opening is provided in the nozzle wall for access to the movable shroud in effecting manipulation thereof between the retracted and operative positions. In another form, the shroud is fixedly mounted within the nozzle and a closure is removably installed for closing the entrance to the suction passage when it is desired to use the unit as a carpet cleaner. In the illustrated embodiment, the closure includes a tongue received in a socket portion of the shroud in the installed arrangement. Provisions are made for accommodating bridging elements extending across the nozzle opening when necessary.

摘要： In accordance with the present invention there is provided a floor polisher or the like having a manipulating and carrying handle comprising a lower fork pivotally connected to the polisher base and an upper fork pivotally connected to the lower fork, there being releasable locking means for securing the forks in extended fixed position relative to each other. A shampoo tank is removably carried by the lower fork and is provided with a discharge valve having a valve stem extending from the upper end of the tank adjacent to the pivotal joint between the forks. Valve actuating mechanism is carried by the upper fork and is so arranged that when the forks are in extended locked position, the mechanism is in cooperative position with the valve stem for actuating the latter to open the valve. Conduit means extends from the discharge valve to the polisher base which includes a plurality of rotary brushes, at least one of which has an annular recess in which the conduit discharges. Each brush has a ring of sponge material, the rings of the different brushes being in compressive contact with each other. A channel is provided between the annular recess and the sponge on that brush.
