Apparatus for the production of a paper web, comprising: a first embossing unit (1) with a first embossing cylinder (2) and a corresponding counter-cylinder (3) for embossing a first paper ply (4); a second embossing unit (5) with a second embossing cylinder (6) and a corresponding counter-cylinder (7) for embossing a second paper ply (8), such that, once embossed, the said plies have a series of oppositely oriented reliefs (R4, R8), said embossing units (1, 5) being synchronized so that the said reliefs are nested into each other; a sizing unit (1C, 2C, 3C) associated with said first embossing cylinder (2) to distribute a predetermined amount of glue on the side of the second ply (8) opposed to that from which the respective reliefs (R8) emerge; means (11) for joining to each other the plies (4, 8) exiting from the apparatus. The apparatus comprises means (12) to form, on said second ply (8), a series of further reliefs (RC) oppositely oriented with respect to those (R8) previously formed by the second embossing unit (5), creating, on the same second ply (8), a step (S) between each further relief (RC) and the corresponding relief (R8) produced by means of the second embossing unit.
Abstract:
Method of manufacturing a hygiene paper product in form of a continuous paper web (W)of sheets partly separated by perforation lines (9) and wound to a log of predetermined longitudinal length, providing a continuous paper web (W), moving the continuous paper web in a direction of its longitudinal extension, providing at least one embossed pattern on the continuous paper web, providing in the area of an embossing station at least one mark (6, 7) onto the continuous paper web, which mark (6, 7) is in register to the embossed pattern, sensing the mark and controlling perforating means for registering the perforation lines (9) with the embossed pattern thereby imparting perforation lines to the continuous paper web in predetermined longitudinal distances, winding up the resulting web to logs, and cutting the log into rolls.

Abstract:
A web product embossing apparatus includes a first embossing wheel set, a second embossing wheel set, a third embossing wheel set, and a glue applicator. The first embossing wheel set embosses at least one raised first embossed pattern on a first web product. The second embossing wheel set and third embossing wheel set respectively emboss at least one raised second embossed pattern and at least one raised third embossed pattern on a second web product. The glue applicator disposes adjacent to the third embossing wheel set to apply glue to the raised third embossed pattern. The first web product and the second web product are bonded together to form a soft and bulky embossed finished web product with multiple embossed patterns thereon.
Abstract:
Device for coupling two or more paper webs or plies by gluing, comprising gluing means destined to apply glue to a paper ply (N2) and pressure means which are located downstream of said gluing means and press more paper plies (N1, N2; N3) onto each other determining their coupling. The said gluing means comprise at least one body (1) provided with corresponding reliefs (R1) which apply the glue on predetermined gluing zones or areas of a paper ply (N2) advancing along a predetermined direction (F2) and said pressure means comprise a presser (3) which is located downstream of the said gluing means with respect to the said direction (F2) and is provided with corresponding reliefs (R3) which exert, on said paper plies (N1, N2; N3), a localized pressure on pressure zones or areas interfering with said gluing zones or areas, so that the glue passes through the glued ply (N2) only in correspondence of said pressure areas or zones.
Abstract:
A multi-ply tissue includes a first cellulosic embossed ply having an emboss pattern applied over a portion of its surface and a second cellulosic embossed ply of tissue. The first ply is contact laminated to the second ply so that the primary adhesion between the plies of tissue is the result of contact between cellulosic fibers. The first and second plies contact one another in contact areas, with the contact areas between the first and second plies defining compliant voids. The contact areas between the first ply and the second ply are elongated and/or rounded contact areas. A method of forming a multi-ply tissue involves conveying a base sheet through a nip between an impression roll and a pattern roll to produce an embossed base sheet having a back side possessing projections, applying adhesive to the back side of the embossed base sheet at spaced apart locations, and applying a flat backing sheet to the back side of the embossed base sheet so that the backing sheet adheres to the back side of the embossed base sheet at said spaced apart locations. A method of producing an embossed tissue involves successively conveying a base sheet through a nip between a first impression roll and a pattern roll, and conveying the base sheet through another nip between the pattern roll and a second impression roll, wherein the second impression roll is made of rubber having a lower hardness than the rubber from which the first impression roll is made.
