Abstract:
According to this invention, allergenicity in an indoor space is reduced by denaturing allergens in allergen reservoirs that are capable of producing respiratory or skin reactions and physically removing the allergens from the allergen reservoirs in the indoor space. The allergen reservoirs may also be treated with pesticides and fungicides/fungistats to prevent reinfestation of house dust mites, molds and cockroaches.
Abstract:
Fatty branched polyalkoxylates, particularly of the formula: R1O(AO)mR2 (I) where R1 is C8 to C30 aliphatic hydrocarbyl or acyl; AO is predominantly branched alkyleneoxy, particularly propyleneoxy; m is from 2 to 50; and R2 is H or a is C1 to C4 aliphatic hydrocarbyl or acyl, are used as fabric conditioners in CO2 based dry cleaning systems. The cleaning medium may include detergent surfactant and/or non surfactant cleaning additive or may be free from such additives in which case the treatment can be provided in a rinse cycle in a cleaning process.
Abstract:
An emulsion for treating natural fabrics is provided wherein the emulsion comprises a natural conditioning agent, water, perfume and is essentially free of cationic surfactant. Also included is an article for treating natural fabrics, a kit for treating natural fabrics, and a method of treating natural fabrics in a dryer.
Abstract:
An organopolysiloxane containing both an amino functional organic group and a mercapto functional organic group is disclosed. A method of making such amino-mercapto functional organopolysiloxanes is by reacting (A) a silanol-functional polysiloxane, (B) an amino functional alkoxy silane, and (C) a mercapto functional alkoxy silane, via a condensation reaction. The amino-mercapto functional organopolysiloxanes products are useful in textile and fabric treatments.
Abstract:
A device for treating a surface to give a cleaning benefit comprises one or more containers (402) containing cleaning liquid. When the actuator (416) is depressed cleaning liquid is delivered to an outlet zone (406) located over a stain, where it forms a gel patch. Continued depression of the actuator means causes a piston 436 to press the gel patch against the surface, caused improved absorption of the stain, into the patch. The gel patch can then be peeled away, to remove the stain.
Abstract:
Cleaning media based on liquid CO2 and including from 0.01 to 5% by weight of the formulation of a cleaning additive which is at least one C6 to C24 hydrocarbyl ester of a multi-carboxylic acid can be used in dry cleaning of textiles. Desirable cleaning additives are of the formula (I): R1(CO2R2)n where R1 is the residue of a C1 to C10 hydrocarbyl group from which n hydrogen atoms have been removed, R2 is a C6 to C24 hydrocarbyl, particularly alkyl or alkenyl, group; and n is from 2 to 5; particularly C12 to C18 adipate esters.
Abstract:
A dryer sheet is provided comprising a liquid fabric treating composition having at least one active ingredient which is retained in liquid form within a substrate, preferably a sheet of non-woven material. The dryer sheet is introduced into a rotary clothes dryer with laundered, damp clothing where an effective amount of the active ingredient is transferred into the fabric of the articles of clothing during a drying cycle as a result of contact of the liquid fabric treating composition with water contained within the damp clothing.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method for treating sticky cotton aimed at reducing the stickiness of thereby treated cotton fibers. Said method comprises the following steps: a. sowing said cotton fibers with bacteria, by spraying, preferably by uniformly spraying an aqueous suspension of said bacteria, so as to achieve a maximum resulting humidity thereof of 16%; b. storing the thereby treated cotton fibers as a compressed bale; c. letting the sown bacteria act at notably room temperature for at least about one week.

Abstract:
The present invention relates to an aqueous composition for dry cleaning and/or degreasing textiles and/or leathers, which composition is natural and biodegradable. The dry cleaning composition of the invention comprises in particular essential oils and surface active agents, it is etherizable and micronizable, and its ingredients are exclusively of vegetable origin. The invention also relates to a method of dry cleaning and/or degreasing textiles and/or leathers implementing the above-described aqueous composition, the method comprising a succession of stages of tumbling the textiles and/or leathers in a leaktight enclosure, wherein one of the stages consists in impregnating the textiles and/or leathers with a small quantity of an aqueous composition by means of pneumatic atomization at a size no more than 50 μm, for a limited duration, and at a temperature of about 35° to 45° C., until the total weight gain is about 5% to 70%. The invention also relates to a machine for dry cleaning and/or degreasing textiles and/or leathers by implementing said method.
