    摘要: An apparatus and a method comprises a housing comprising at least a recessed area and an inner wall. A plurality of plates are disposed within the housing and configured to form a structure. The structure has an outside surface. The structure is capable of being articulated between a first configuration and a second configuration and a third configuration. A plurality of connecting rods are joined to the plurality of plates to form the structure and to at least in part articulate the structure. The connecting rods are movable to form the first configuration to enable a gas to flow from the recessed area to the outside surface. The plurality of connecting rods are further movable to form the second configuration, wherein at least a portion of the gas is compressed between the outside surface and the inner wall and then to the third configuration.

One or more ports are configured to inlet an oxygen source and fuel into the combustion chamber and to outlet exhaust gases from the combustion chamber.

In one embodiment of the invention, a radial impulse engine includes first and second movable V-members operably disposed between first and second end wall portions. The first V-member can have a first wall portion with a first distal edge portion and a second wall portion with a first cylindrical surface. The second V-member can have a third wall portion with a second distal edge portion and a fourth wall portion with a second cylindrical surface. In this embodiment, the first distal edge portion of the first wall portion can be configured to slide across the second cylindrical surface of the fourth wall portion, and the second distal edge portion of the third wall portion can be configured to slide across the first cylindrical surface of the second wall portion, when the first V-member pivots about a first pivot axis and the second V-member pivots about a second pivot axis.

    摘要: A balanced rotary cycling machine suitable for use as an internal combustion engine, compressed gas or steam engine, compressor or pump is disclosed herein. The rotor assembly consists of four articulating pistons where the opposite pistons are inter-linked with each other by pivoted rods comprising a parallelogram mechanism and therefore eliminating a need for pivots between pistons. The rotor assembly rotates inside or outside of a circular or non-circular stator depending on the configuration chosen. A variety of mechanisms for shape deformation of four piston assembly during its rotating cycle is also disclosed herein, as well as detailed descriptions of preferred embodiments, including a four cycle internal combustion engine with circular stator, marine engine with polymer parts and a four cycle automobile rotary engine with conventional oil pan. In addition, a method of operation of external rotary combustion engine, employing a high-pressure compressor and an external combustion chamber, is disclosed. This invention also teaches a novel lubrication system for rotary engine providing low emissions. The engine has few moving parts, simplified circular or semi-circular stator shape and utilizes simple and effective sealing techniques. It is fully balanced, has very low friction and heat losses and can employ a pre-designed configuration of the combustion chamber for a desired compression ratio and power output.

    摘要: Radial impulse engine, pump, and compressor systems are disclosed herein. In one embodiment of the invention, an engine includes a first end wall portion spaced apart from a second end wall portion to at least partially define a combustion chamber therebetween. In this embodiment, the engine further includes a plurality of movable wall portions disposed between the first and second end wall portions. Each movable wall portion includes a cylindrical surface extending at least partially between a distal edge portion and a pivot axis. Upon ignition in the combustion chamber, the distal edge portion of each movable wall portion slides across the cylindrical surface of the adjacent movable wall portion as the movable wall portions pivot outwardly in unison about their respective pivot axes.
