Abstract: A variable compression ratio apparatus may include: a connecting rod having an end connected with a crank pin of a crank shaft; a plunger housing formed at the other end of the connecting rod, the plunger housing having a space to which a plunger is inserted. In particular, the plunger moves upwardly and downwardly, and an outer circumference surface of the plunger contacts an inner circumference surface of the plunger housing. The apparatus further includes a protrusion protruded from the plunger to the plunger housing and connected with a piston, and a hydraulic pressure control valve for supplying hydraulic pressure to the space and moving the plunger by supplying hydraulic pressure.

Abstract: Provided are mechanisms and processes for a pneumatic shaft positioning system. According to various examples, the pneumatic shaft positioning system includes a pyrotechnic valve that is configured to control the flow of gas from a pressurized gas source into a pressure chamber. The pressure chamber includes a first piston that is slidably coupled to the pressure chamber. When gas from the pressurized gas source fills the pressure chamber, the piston is configured to slide through the pressure chamber and force a shaft into a predetermined position.

Abstract: A multistage stroke cylinder apparatus includes a main cylinder having a main piston and a main rod, an intermediate stop position setting mechanism for setting an intermediate stop position of the main piston, and a return position setting mechanism for setting a return position of the main piston. The intermediate stop position setting mechanism includes a stop position setting piston for coming in contact with the main piston, an auxiliary rod extending from the setting piston, a stopper mounted to a tip end of the auxiliary rod such that a mounting position of the stopper can be changed, and a contact portion a position of which can be changed by a contact position adjusting piston.
