摘要： A tape cartridge has a tape housing, first and second reel member cooperate with each other to constitute a reel around which a tape is wound, a connecting and biasing member connecting between the first and second, and first and second engaging means. The first engaging means is provided on an inner surface of the lower wall. The second engaging means is provided on a lower surface of the second reel member. This arrangement allows that the second engaging means can engage with the first engaging means due member to prevent a rotation of the second reel member and can disengage from the first engaging means when the drive shaft accesses the second reel member through the opening and forces the second reel member toward the first reel member against the biasing force of the connecting and biasing member.

The cartridge reel (274) is rotatably secured to the cartridge housing (272). The tape (278) is secured to the cartridge reel (274). The tape (278) can include a storage tape (278D) that stores data and a lapping tape (278L) that laps the tape head (260). In one embodiment, the storage tape (278D) and the lapping tape (278L) are spliced together. The ratio of storage tape (278D) to lapping tape (278L) can be at least approximately 0.01:1. The lapping tape (278L) can include a diamond material having a grit of between approximately 0.1 micron and 1.0 micron. In one embodiment, the tape (578) can include a first lapping tape (578L1) and a second lapping tape (578L2) that has a different grit than the first lapping tape (578L1). In another embodiment, the tape (678) also includes a cleaning tape (678CL) that cleans the tape head (260).

摘要： In a single-reel type tape cartridge, a floating-lock structure comprising lock pieces and a lock spring for locking and biasing the lock pieces is provided between an upper surface of a tape reel and an upper case. On each of the lock piece are provided a restriction member for restricting upward movement of the tape reel and a releaser that is subjected to an unlocking operation performed an unlock member in a tape drive. Entry grooves for the unlock members are formed on an outer surface of the upper case, and the releasers are exposed in the entry grooves from operation openings provided in part of the entry grooves. When a main body case is loaded in the tape drive, the releasers are subjected to the unlocking operation by the unlock members so that the restriction members can move and evacuate upward in a hub space surrounded by a reel hub.

摘要： A tape cartridge for use with a tape drive having an actuation member includes a cartridge body that is insertable into the tape drive. The cartridge body includes first and second faces that extend at an angle to each other. The first face has a first opening and the second face has a second opening. The cartridge further includes a door movably associated with the cartridge body and being engageable with the actuation member when the cartridge body is inserted into the tape drive. The door is pivotable between a closed position and an open position upon engagement with the actuation member. Furthermore, the door has first and second portions that at least partially cover the first and second openings, respectively, when the door is in the closed position.
