    摘要: A white reference plate includes in addition to a rectangular portion disposed at an optical adjustment position, white reference portions between an optical adjustment position and a document size detection position outside a document reading region (i.e., outside contact glass) in a main scanning direction. In response to an opening and closing detecting section detecting opening and closing of a document conveyance unit during optical adjustment, a drive section moves a scanning section from the optical adjustment position to the document size detection position. The white reference portions are disposed at locations above respective opposite end parts of the scanning section in a main scanning direction, so that optical adjustment can be performed using an output value that the scanning section obtains by reading the white reference portions without interruption even during or after the movement.

A print control apparatus includes an information storage processing section which stores measured color values into a database which stores history information of color measurement, where the measured color values are obtained by measuring colors in a color chart by using a printing device. The print control apparatus further includes a color defining section which defines a specific color by referring to the database, and a color calibration controlling section which, while the printing device is processing a print job, causes the printing device to measure the specific color, determines whether to calibrate the printing device on the basis of a change with time in the measured color value of the specific color, and calibrates the printing device according to the determination result.

    摘要: A technique which enables reduction of time required for continuous printing performed by an image forming apparatus in a temperature rise suppression mode. A printer prints a plurality of pages based on print data received from a host computer. A temperature sensor detects internal temperature of the printer. A control unit controls the printer such that the printing is suspended when the internal temperature has risen to a shifting temperature, and the printing is restarted when the internal temperature has fallen to a normal restart threshold value during the suspension of the printing. The control unit calculates the number of remaining pages left unprinted when the printing is suspended, and sets the normal restart threshold value according to the calculated number of the remaining pages.

    摘要: A correction-data generating unit divides, into a matrix of row blocks in a sub scanning direction and column blocks in a main scanning direction, white data on a transfer drum read by a reading unit during a predetermined time period that is shorter than a time period in which the read point of the transfer drum is returned to a position where the reading unit has started reading the first white reference member, calculates, for each column of the matrix, a correction-data candidate value corresponding to a variation ratio of a mean of data of the row blocks in the sub-scanning direction, and determines a minimum value of the calculated correction-data candidate values as the correction data. A shading-data correcting corrects the shading data by using the generated correction data. A shading correcting unit performs shading correction on image data of a document after the correction data is generated.
