    摘要： The invention relates to a machine for drilling and boring tubular plates, the workpiece-carrying elevator being embedded, weight compensation being provided by appropriate means, the machining units moving substantially at ground level opposite thrust tubes bearing on the plate before each machining cycle and absorbing tool thrusts. The machine is characterized by an elevator which supports the plate for machining and which moves on slideways with balancing by hydraulic rams in a constant proportion to the weight of the workpiece being machined. Thrust means retain the thrusts of the spindles, the movements of the latter spindles and means being synchronized by means, the tilting torque produced by the thrust of the spindles is limited by the provision at ground level of a closed framing which interconnects all the constituent elements. The invention is of use for drilling and boring any article, more particularly for the baffle plates of heat exchangers, boilers, water purifiers, heaters and the like.

Two pipes above and parallel to the locating rail carry two auxiliary drilling assemblies which are coupled by a cable connection. The auxiliary drilling assemblies have several lowerable spindles and can be moved synchronously in opposite directions on the pipes.

    摘要： A frame structure supports a work surface above which there is provided an elongated head number supporting a series of drills. A torque tube having an axis parallel to and spaced from a line passing through the series of drills is mounted to the frame structure for rotation about its axis. The drill head member is coupled to the torque tube such that rotation of the torque tube initially swings the head member in an arc and thereafter urges the head member through a lost motion coupling arrangement against a pair of spaced parallel guide rails, secured to the frame structure normal to the work surface so that the remaining travel of the drill head is rectilinear. The stiffness of the torque tube assures that one end of the elongated drill head will not move ahead or drop behind the other end so that all holes are drilled simultaneously.

    摘要： Elongated workpieces such as structural profile members are machined on apparatus suitable for drilling holes or performing other operations at predetermined points by equipment comprising a support with rollers on which the workpiece can be displaced, said support comprising a portal member spanning the workpiece and embodying a tool-carrying cross member having suitable driving tool spindles. The workpiece is located on the support rollers and held in position by vertical and horizontal guide rollers on the portal unit which are pressed into engagement with the workpiece. The cross member which may carry drills or the like is operable towards the workpiece with a cutting feed by means of hydraulic piston devices, and locating means are provided for correctly positioning the workpiece on the rollers. Lengthwise positioning of the cross member is effected by means of an indicator device with a floating zero system which is operated by the displacement of the portal member on the support and is thus available for determining the position of the portal member for effecting drilling at the required points of the workpiece.
