    摘要： A portable adjustable multiple end drill device comprises a rotary power source communicating with a plurality of end drill units. The device includes restraints for holding the rotary power source and a hearing rigidly attached to the restraints for rotating the device. The device includes two end-caps, each of which is connected to a respective arm directly or via at least one modular extension of a respective arm. The end-caps are also connected to guide bars and a splined power transmission shaft. The device imparts a set of rectilinearly aligned work areas of a work piece, which work areas are respectively and simultaneously drilled by the respective drill bits. A rectilinear position of each end drill unit can be adjusted mechanically. Each drill bit holder, or base, holding a respective drill bit or fastener bit is rotated by a system of bearing-journaled drive gears.

    摘要： A turret machine tool has a slide table mounted on a machine base for movement toward and away from a workpiece to be machined. A turret head is indexably mounted on the slide table, and a plurality of multispindle heads mounted on the turret head at spaced angular intervals in an indexing direction of the turret head, each of the multispindle heads having a plurality of spindles disposed therein. A plurality of machine tools mounted on respective ends of the spindles, and a plurality of spindle gears are mounted on the spindles, respectively. A driven gear is mounted in each of the multispindle heads in mesh with the spindle gears through a train of gears. A drive gear is axially movably disposed in the turret head for movement into and out of mesh with the driven gear in one of the multispindle heads which has been indexed. A plurality of gear shafts are supported in a cantilevered fashion by each of the multispindle heads and project toward the turret head, the train of gears and the driven gear being mounted on the gear shafts. The multispindle heads can be highly accurately installed on the turret head, and the train of gears can easily be serviced. The turret machine tool is relatively light in weight, and can be manufactured relatively inexpensively.

    摘要： A mechanism for individually positioning a drilling head in a multiple head drilling assembly. The assembly includes a plurality of spindle blocks arranged in side-by-side relation, and a spindle that is adapted to carry a drill head is mounted for rotation and axial movement in each block. Each spindle block is mounted for individual lateral movement in a direction normal to the axis of the spindle on guide rods, and is driven laterally by a rotatable lead screw that extends parallel to the guide rods. A recirculating ball nut is associated with each spindle block and is engaged with the lead screw. A clamping mechanism acts to selectively clamp each nut to the respective spindle block and by clamping the nut to the block, the spindle block will be moved along the guide rods on rotation of the lead screw, and by disengaging the nut from the respective spindle block, rotation of the lead screw will cause free rotation of the nut without movement of the block. With this construction, each spindle block can be selectively and individually positioned for the drilling operation.

A plurality of drive spindles with individually mounted drills is adjustably supported upon and within said head and connected to said drive mechanism. An upwardly and rearwardly inclined fixture mounting plate spans and is secured to said adapter for supporting a workpiece mounting fixture. A series of variably located drill guide bushings are nested within said fixture and arranged in a predetermined pattern for receiving the drills upon the plurality of prelocated spindles.

    摘要： Holes are pre-drilled in a stack of beams which are thereafter used as blocking or studs in the construction of building wall frames. The holes provide means for quickly routing electrical conduits through the wall frames. A machine for pre-drilling the holes includes a work support bed for holding several adjacent stacks of baled studs, and a movable drill carriage above the bed for mounting several laterally spaced apart power drills. A longitudinally movable conveyor frame pushes the studs lengthwise on the bed until a cam carried by the frame actuates a switch to automatically stop the studs under the drill carriage in a first drilling position. The drill carriage then automatically moves down to drill holes in the studs, and then automatically moves up to its initial position after drilling is completed. The conveyor frame then automatically moves the studs to the next drilling position, the drilling sequence is repeated, and the studs are then moved to further drilling positions until all holes are drilled. After drilling is completed, the conveyor frame continues to push the baled studs forward onto a suitable outfeed conveyor after which the studs may be cut into blocking. The conveyor frame then automatically returns to its original position ready to move another bale of studs.
