    摘要: An assembly for preventing a flanged finish on the neck portion of a glass container by permitting continuous engagement between the neck ring and the guide ring even though the guide ring is subject to wear and by forcefully maintaining this continuous engagement with a spring urged centering sleeve which extends through a bore in the neck ring to engage the bottom of the guide ring. The neck ring includes a stepped interior annular groove into which a guide ring having an outer stepped annular portion is received. While the total height of the guide ring corresponds to the total height of the groove of the neck ring, the upper surface (70) of the bottom step (72) of the guide ring establishes a selected clearance (Z) with the upper surface (74) of the bottom portion (66) of the neck ring groove so that the continuous engagement can be maintained as the top surface of the guide ring wears.

    摘要: A method and apparatus is disclosed to produce a blown glass envelope on a ribbon machine having a self supporting closed end, said article being of a unitary, integral construction with glass wall thickness substantially less than that found in conventional pressed glass envelope. Said ribbon formed glass envelope has a cylindrical neck portion terminating at one end in a bulb portion of larger cross sectional dimensions and which includes the self supporting base end. The sides of said glass envelope can be curved or flat and with said self supporting base also being of a curved or planar contour. A novel mold construction permitting said glass envelope to be blown on a ribbon machine comprises a pair of cooperative halves forming the sides of the blown glass envelope in a central cavity in which further includes a separate base part located at the lower end of the said cavity to shape the self supporting base, said base part of the mold being provided with reciprocal motion in a vertical direction.

    摘要: A method and plunger arrangement for forming parisons in the manufacture of hollow articles of glassware. The method comprising forming each parison by introducing a gob of molten glass into a mould cavity (10) having the shape desired for the external surface of the parison, and moving a plunger (14,70) into the mould cavity to cause the molten glass to conform to the shape of the cavity. The method also comprises forming a layer of gas (G.98) between a surface portion of the plunger and the molten glass so that, as the plunger moves into the cavity, the glass is pushed into shape by the layer of gas, and rotating or vibrating the plunger while it is in the mould cavity. The plunger arrangement provides means for carrying out the method.

Each passage (56,96) in a carrier is connected to passages (82,84,86,88) in a mould portion (18) supported by the carrier (14,16) so that air under pressure supplied to the passages (44,48) in the column (12) is supplied to the passages in the mould portion to cool the mould portion. The air supply to each of the passages in the column is controllable independently so that the air supply to each mould portion is independent.

    摘要: A parison mold and baffle system for an automatic molding machine of the I-S type including a two piece split parison mold with an integral funnel thereon. The funnel portion terminates upwardly in an annular opening with walls of outwardly tapering cross section. A combined blow-down and baffle head has blow-down nozzles, a downwardly facing annular groove which is snugly received on the walls of the funnel in both the blow-down and mold closing baffle positions. Blow-down starts from the initial engagement of the blow-down and baffle head on the funnel and continues until said mold end is completely closed by the baffle.
