    摘要: The present invention relates to mold cooling method and system for a glass container forming machine that includes at least one mold holder including mold halves that are movable between a closed mold position for forming the glass article and an open mold position for releasing said article, each of the mold halves having axial passages for cooling each of the mold halves. A support structure having a fixed upper support section and a movable support section. Means for providing a cooling flow are coupled in coincidence with a series of openings in the movable support section. A cooling flow distributor located above the movable support section, the cooling flow distributor having a lower section in coincidence with each of the openings of the movable support section for the passage of the cooling flow and, a upper section in coincidence with each of the axial passages of each of the halves of each mold, the cooling flow distributor being movable between the closed mold position and the open mold position.

A mold body includes an exterior surface, a mold cavity having an interior mold surface, and a blind hole having a closed end including a closed end surface adjacent to and spaced outwardly from the interior mold surface, wherein the blind hole extends outwardly from the closed end surface toward the exterior surface. The mold body is removably carried on a mold hanger, and a light collector is carried by the mold hanger to collect infrared light emitted within the blind hole.

    摘要: A mold opening and closing mechanism includes an aligning mechanism which has a horizontal mounting plate including a number of vertical openings for the number of molds, that is supported by a pair of spaced vertical uprights secured to the section frame top surface. A plurality of aligning cylinders are located in the vertical openings in the horizontal mounting plate and move parallel with the mold holder motion. Each cylinder includes surfaces configured to mate with the clamping surfaces of the mold holders. The axis of one of the aligning cylinders is held but not clamped at the theoretical centerline so it can move to the actual centerline when the mold holders are located at the advanced clamped closed position. A position transducer is mounted parallel with the mold holder motion to sense movement of the axis of one of the aligning cylinders and a computer receiving positional data from the transducer compares the theoretical centerline with the actual centerline determined from the data and defines a displacement offset for the displacement program to align the mold holders to the theoretical centerline.

    摘要: A mold locking system is provided for a glass molding machine. The machine has first and second mold hanger support arms for moving respectively first and second mold halves. The arms are pivotally cantilever-mounted at their ends for rotation about a vertical axis between a retracted station where the mold halves are separated and a forming station where the mold halves are brought into contact. The locking system includes a pressure system for exerting an upward force on the free ends of the support arms and includes surfaces configured to pressingly engage specially configured portions of the free arm ends so that operation of the pressure system forces the free ends towards each other to ensure closure of the mold, and to force the free ends up against a limit stop to terminate upward travel to compensate for sag and mounting system wear.
