    摘要: A reel holder and clamping arrangement for a strander cradle is disclosed. The reel holder and clamping arrangement comprises two pintle assemblies each incuding a bearing housing, a pintle rotatably mounted in the bearing housing and means for mounting each bearing housing in axial alignment one on each side frame member. First cam means are associated with at least one of the pintle assemblies for moving its associated pintle along the axis of the reel for clamping a reel between the pintles. A reel holder engages the flanges of the reel when the reel is received within the cradle for positioning the core of the reel in alignment with the pintles of the pintle assemblies. Second cam means are associated with at least one of the pintle assemblies for moving the reel holder out of engagement with the flanges of the reel when the reel is clamped between the pintles. Means are provided for simultaneous actuation of the first and second cam means to clamp the reel between the pintles and free the flanges of the reel from the reel holder.

The reel clamp comprises two pintle assemblies mounted in axial alignment, one of such pintle assembly being axially movable with respect to the other. Each pintle assembly includes a bearing housing, a reel supporting member rotatably mounted in the bearing housing and means for securing the bearing housing to one of the side frame members of the cradle assembly. Cam means are associated with the movable pintle assembly for moving the bearing housing of such movable pintle assembly along the axis of the reel for clamping the reel between the two reel supporting members.

    摘要: A wire stranding machine provides a number of bobbin units mounted on a single base for rotating a number of spools of wires. Wire guides draw the wire under even tension through a sinusoidal path to a wire stranding member. A conductive ring surrounds the wire members and generates an electrical signal if any of the wire members snap or become non-uniform in tension. The particular wire path and uniform tensioning permits a maximum velocity of rotation to be developed with the wires.

    摘要: A coreless glass fiber cable is made of a plurality of individual substantially untwisted glass fiber rovings twisted together. Prior to twisting but during the twisting operation certain of the rovings are impregnated with one component of an elastomeric resin with the remainder of the rovings impregnated with the second component of the elastomeric resin. The impregnated rovings are spirally twisted together in the same direction at substantially the same helical angle, the two components of the elastomeric resin impregnating the rovings mixing with each other at the junction of the intertwining of the rovings to form a cured elastomer spacing the glass fiber rovings and filaments making up the rovings from each other. The layed up glass fiber cable is fed back on itself and subsequent layers of impregnated rovings plied together over the initial layers. The subsequently applied layers are applied at the same helical angle as the initial layer. The cable, although useful for other purposes, is particularly useful in the manufacture of endless track for track vehicles, the endless track comprising a plurality of individual track sections strung along a cable of the type mentioned.
