    摘要: A split mechanical face seal assembly wherein stator and rotor face rings and their respective surrounding collar and gland are all split substantially diametrically and are partially factory preassembled to facilitate shipping, handling and subsequent assembly onto a machine at the job site. The split rotor face ring and the split supportive collar have the cooperating parts thereof subassembled into two subassemblies which define opposed halves for permitting them to be assembled on diametrically opposite sides of a shaft, with each subassembly having the rotor face ring segment carried on the support collar segment, and an elastomeric seal ring which cooperates between the segments being preassembled therebetween. The stator face ring and its supporting gland ring also have the respective split segments thereof, and the other cooperating components such as seal rings and the like, preassembled at the factory to define a pair of subassemblies.

    摘要: A mechanical device having a shaft, a sealing device for sealing around the shaft, a housing, and a first abutment means. The sealing device has a carrier means on which a plurality of resilient sealing elements are arranged. The mechanical device further has an enclosure means. The sealing device has a first sealing element with an inner dimension, which is larger than the outer dimension of the shaft. The enclosure means at least partially encloses the first sealing element. After the sealing means has been mounted and compressingly fastened in the mechanical device, the first sealing element is compressed in a first direction (A), axially along the shaft and expanded in a second direction (B), radially towards the shaft. The first sealing element is thus brought to a sealing engagement with the shaft.

    摘要: An improved mechanical seal assembly is provided for sealing rotating shafts with respect to their shaft housings, wherein the rotating shafts are subject to substantial axial vibrations. The mechanical seal assembly generally includes a rotating sealing ring fixed to the shaft, a non-rotating sealing ring adjacent to and in close contact with the rotating sealing ring for forming an annular seal about the shaft, and a mechanical diode element that applies a biasing force to the non-rotating sealing ring by means of hemispherical joint. The alignment of the mechanical diode with respect to the sealing rings is maintained by a series of linear bearings positioned axially along a desired length of the mechanical diode. Alternative embodiments include mechanical or hydraulic amplification components for amplifying axial displacement of the non-rotating sealing ring and transfering it to the mechanical diode.

    摘要: According to a preferred embodiment, a mechanical face seal assembly comprises four generally ring-shaped members and plural spring devices. The first ring-shaped member is directly fastened (e.g., bolted) to the flanged structural section located at the end of the shaft sleeve. The first and second ring-shaped members are coaxially aligned and rotatively communicative at respective radial surfaces. The first ring-shaped member is made of a metal (or ceramic) matrix composite material. The second ring-shaped member is made of a polymer matrix composite material. The second and third ring-shaped members are mated via radial openings (in the second ring-shaped member) and corresponding radial projections (in the third ring-shaped member). The third ring-shaped member has axial projections and is thereby directly fastened (e.g., bolted) to the fourth ring-shaped member, which clampingly secures the third ring-shaped member with respect to the shaft. The third ring-shaped member contains the spring devices so that they push against the second ring-shaped member, which is consequently biased against the first ring-shaped member. Since each ring-shaped member is a “split” structure having two joinable semicircular halves, the entire sealing system can be installed without disassembling the shafting mechanism. The matrix composite compositions confer structural qualities on the first and second ring-shaped members, and further afford tribological “self-healing” properties of the wear junction therebetween. The resultant benefits include fewer parts, greater compactness, longer service life, and less frequent maintenance and repair.

    摘要: A Non-contacting face type pressure sealing assembly for shafts rotating at high speeds, such as for example those of centrifugal compressors, such assembly having at least two mating sealing rings. One of the subject sealing rings is fixed to the rotating shaft. The other is non-rotating but typically biased by coil springs and allowed to slide within the seal housing in the axial direction. Non-rotating sealing ring is sealed at the housing by an arrangement of two elastomeric elements, one a sealing O-ring the other a compliant force transmitter. Compliant force transmitter can also be an O-ring or it can be an element triangular in cross-section. Angular contact between the two elements maintains transmission of the axial coil spring load towards the non-rotating ring, but also derives a radial load needed for low friction contact at the sealing O-ring.

    摘要: The invention relates to a non-contacting shaft seal formed between a rotating sealing ring (3) and a non-rotating circular sealing element (1). The sealing element (1) is spring-loaded towards the sealing ring (3). Gas is pumped into spiral grooves (6) formed in the sealing face (5) of either the sealing ring (3) or the sealing element (1) and extending from an edge thereof during rotation of the sealing ring (3) and a gap (S) is created between the sealing element (1) and the sealing ring (3) against the force of the spring. Each groove is divided into two channels by a wedge-shaped partition (7) extending from the end wall of the groove (6). During speed changes of the rotating sealing ring (3), the gap (S) is maintained by high pressure at the closed end of the channels. The partition (7) is designed to offer little resistance to gas flow in the channel.
