A pressure equalizing tube (98) within said housing (42), (44), (52) extends from the upper chamber (102) through the additive dispenser (64), (72) to the lower chamber (104) to equalize the fluid pressure existing in the lower chamber (104) with the fluid pressure existing in the upper chamber (102) during the dispensing of the additive (70) from the upper chamber (102) to the lower chamber (104). In the preferred embodiment the additive dispenser (64), (72) consists of a screw or auger (72) disposed within an auger ring (64), and the additive (70) flows through the additive dispenser (64), (72) to the lower chamber (104) under the force of gravity. Where the additive (70) consists of radioactive sand used as a tracer for well logging purposes, the apparatus may be provided with an electrical power end control circuit (106) to remotely control the dispensing of radioactive sand (70).

    摘要: An apparatus for dispensing particulate material in a predetermined pattern over a subjacent surface. The apparatus includes an elongated hopper having a downwardly facing discharge mouth. A rotary dispensing shaft extends the length of the mouth. The shaft has a plurality of material receiving grooves formed to extend longitudinally thereof and sized to receive predetermined amounts of particulate material. Positioned about the shaft member and extending the length thereof is an elongated cylindrical sleeve which is mounted for selective rotation relative to the shaft with its exterior surface in sealing engagement with the mouth of the hopper. First and second circumferentially spaced, generally longitudinally extending openings are formed through the sleeve. The openings are located such that in a first position of the sleeve the first openings provide communication from the mouth to the material receiving grooves in the shaft and the second openings provide communication from the shaft to the exterior of the sleeve. In the second position of the sleeve the mouth is sealed from the shaft.

    摘要: Apparatus is disclosed for dispensing materials into containers in precise amounts, which includes an adjustment mechanism for precisely controlling the volume of material dispensed. The dispensing apparatus comprises a dispensing wheel having a plurality of dispensing chambers arranged in a radial manner on the wheel. Each chamber includes a mechanism for varying its volume and hence the quantity of the substance received and discharged. The adjustment mechanism includes an externally accessible toothed wheel which is rotatable in one direction to increase the volume of the chamber and is rotatable in the opposite direction to decrease the chamber volume. First and second actuators are disposed relative to the dispensing wheel and are selectively operated to engage the toothed wheel on opposite sides of its rotational axis. This engagement takes place while the dispensing wheel is revolving, and engagement of either of the actuator means causes the toothed adjustment wheel to rotate in the selected direction to increase or decrease the chamber volume. In an alternative embodiment, the externally accessible adjustment wheel is a gear member, and the actuator means comprises a gear member connected to a reversible motor that is employed while the dispensing wheel is at rest. With either embodiment, the volume of each chamber can be precisely controlled quickly and automatically.

    摘要: A device for introducing dosed or proportioned quantities of pulverized solid materials into a carrier gas stream is presented. The device comprises a housing which defines a flow chamber in the axial direction for the flow of pressurized fluid or carrier gas. The housing also has a side aperture therethrough. The side aperture is connected to a container holding pulverized materials. Coaxial inner and outer sleeves, at least one of which is capable of rotation, are located within the housing. The outer sleeve communicates with the aperture while the inner sleeve has an axial bore which provides a passage for the carrier gas. Upon rotation of a sleeve, slots provided on each sleeve will align and overlap with each other and with the aperture to define a variable sized passage between the container and axial bore whereby the pulverized material is delivered therethrough to the carrier gas stream. A third sleeve which is coaxial with the inner and outer sleeves and rotatable about its longitudinal axis is located between the housing and the outer sleeve. This third sleeve has a radial aperture corresponding to the side aperture of the housing. The third sleeve acts as a valve between the dosing device and a distribution tank.

The granular material, in finely divided form, is moved from spaced-apart locations into flight paths or trajectories which overlap or cross one another. The mixing of the components first takes place in the crossover zone of the trajectories. The material is thus continuously and uniformly mixed in a simple manner. The apparatus for carrying out the method includes two drums which are rotated in opposite directions. Receivers for the components are distributed on the surfaces of the drums. An extraction device is located between the drums for removing the granular material from the receivers as the drums rotate. In the region below the extraction device, there is disposed a mixing zone in which the trajectories of the material cross one another.

A housing surrounds the rotor in a pressure tight manner and includes a charging aperture and an emptying aperture which are rotationally displaced from one another. A load measuring device is connected to the housing and a tachometer is provided for measuring the angular velocity of the rotor. A pneumatic conveying system is provided which has feed lines respectively communicating with an air feed aperture in the housing and the emptying aperture.
