    Abstract: A hand vacuum cleaner may have an air treatment member and a pre-motor filter downstream from the air treatment member. A suction motor and fan assembly may be is positioned downstream of and below the pre-motor filter, a post motor filter may be positioned downstream of the suction motor and fan assembly and in the lower end of the hand vacuum cleaner. A clean air outlet may be positioned below the suction motor and fan assembly whereby air travels downwardly from the suction motor and fan assembly and through the post motor filter to the clean air outlet.

    Abstract: An upright surface cleaning apparatus comprises a floor cleaning head having a dirty air inlet and an upright section moveably mounted to the surface cleaning head. The surface cleaning apparatus also includes an air flow passage extending from the dirty air inlet to a clean air outlet. The air flow passage includes a conduit section. The surface cleaning apparatus also includes a suction motor and an air treatment member positioned in the air flow passage, provided in one of the floor cleaning head and the upright section. The conduit section has an inlet end and an outlet end. The inlet end is rotatably connected to the air flow passage about an axis parallel to air flow through the inlet end, and the outlet end is rotatably connected to the air flow passage about an axis parallel to air flow through the outlet end.

    Abstract: A surface cleaning apparatus comprises a cyclone, a suction motor positioned downstream from the cyclone and a filter assembly downstream of the cyclone and upstream of the suction motor. The filter assembly comprises a longitudinally extending first filter media configured as a hollow body, a longitudinally extending secondary filter positioned interior the longitudinally extending first filter media, the longitudinally extending secondary filter configured as a hollow body and an inner longitudinally extending downstream air flow passage positioned transversely inwardly from the inner downstream surface of the longitudinally extending secondary filter. A longitudinally extending filter axis is generally parallel to a motor axis and intersects the suction motor. The secondary filter filters finer particulate matter than the longitudinally extending first filter media.

    Abstract: A surface cleaning head is disclosed. The surface cleaning head includes a housing, a brush system, and a panel open detector. The brush system includes a brush and a brush drive member drivingly connected to the brush. The brush is moveably mounted in the brush chamber and removably from the brush chamber. A panel open detector is operatively connected to a brush interruption member and the brush interruption member is operatively connected to the brush system. When the panel open detector detects that a panel on the housing is opened, the brush interruption member interacts with the brush system to prevent the brush drive member driving the brush.
