    Abstract: Embodiments are disclosed for a low-frequency detection and ranging. In an embodiment, an apparatus comprises: an open electrode; an alternating current (AC) voltage source configured to supply an excitation voltage to the open electrode at an excitation frequency; a resonant circuit coupled to the open electrode, the resonant circuit configured to oscillate when an object is within a detection distance of the open electrode; one or more processors configured to: obtain time domain samples of an output voltage of the resonant circuit when the resonant circuit is oscillating; convert the time domain samples into frequency domain samples; for each frequency domain sample, determine an amplitude difference and a phase difference as compared to an amplitude and phase of the excitation voltage; and determine a material class of the object based on the amplitude difference and the phase difference.

    Abstract: A wireless power transmitter can include a coil, an inverter coupled to the coil, and control circuitry coupled to the inverter that, responsive to receiving a burst request pulse from a wireless power receiver, initiates inverter operation, driving the coil and powering the receiver. The control circuitry can operate inverter switches so bandwidth of the wireless power transfer signal falls within a specified range by: (a) extending a minimum on time of the switches, (b) modifying pulse width modulation (PWM) drive signals supplied to the switches to shape a coil current burst envelope, and/or (c) modifying PWM signal amplitude supplied to the switches. Modifying the PWM drive signals can include using a symmetrical PWM scheme in which the positive and negative pulses are symmetrical in width on a cycle-by-cycle basis or using a complementary PWM scheme in which the positive and negative pulse widths are complementary on a cycle-by-cycle basis.

    Abstract: A personal display system with which a user may adjust the configuration of displayed media is provided. The personal display system may include an electronic device operative to provide media to a personal display device operative to display the received media. Using one or more optical and digital components, the personal display device may adjust displayed media to overlay features of a theater, thus giving the user of the personal display device the impression of being in the theater. In some embodiments, the personal display device may detect the user's movements using one or more sensors and may adjust the displayed image based on the user's movements. For example, the device may detect a user's head movement and cause the portion of media displayed to reflect the head movement.

    Abstract: An apparatus includes a processor circuit that includes a memory circuit, one or more processor cores, and a debug circuit. The debug circuit may be configured, in response to activation of a trace mode to record information indicative of instructions executing on the one or more processor cores, to write a trace data stream to the memory circuit that includes trace data collected on the instructions executing on the one or more processor cores. In response to a particular instruction within one of the processor cores specifying a write of a data value to an architecturally visible trace register, the debug circuit may be further configured to output the data value to the trace data stream as part of executing the particular instruction.

    Abstract: A head-mounted display includes a display unit and a facial interface. The display unit includes a display for displaying graphical content to a user. The facial interface is coupled to the display unit and configured to engage a face of the user to support the display unit thereon. The facial interface includes an upper portion that engages a forehead of the user and side portions that engage temple regions of the user. The facial interface converts forward force applied to the upper portion by the forehead into inward force applied by side portions to the temple regions.
