[Also in Group XXVIII] An upright dust collector, Fig. 1, comprises a dust-collecting chamber 17, a cyclone chamber 16 and an impeller housing 26 which carries a support 13 from which a dust-collecting bag 12 is suspended, the housing 26 being provided with a side outlet pipe 28, Fig. 4, which is releasably connected to an inlet duct 54 secured to the wall of the bag for the passage of dust from the housing into the bag. The support 13, Fig. 5, consists of an L-shaped rod 42 having a vertical leg 43 which slidably engages into an opening 39 in a block 38 secured to a bracket 33 mounted on the housing 26, and a horizontal leg 44 which is secured to the bag 12 by straps 52, 53. The bag 12 is of porous fabric, e.g. canvas, and is formed with zipped openings 62, 66 respectively in its upper and lower end walls. The pipe 28 and the duct 54 interengage and are secured together by means of a clamping ring 56 which engage the end of the duct 54 beyond an external annular ridge 32 on the pipe 28. Alternatively, the end of the duct 54 may be urged by an elastic ring or an annular spiral spring into a groove formed in the external surface of the pipe 28 past the ridge 32. In operation, dust-laden air is sucked into the dust collector through a tangential inlet 24 by means of an impeller in the housing 26 and is circulated through the cyclone 23 which separates the. major part of the dust which collects in a removable barrel 18. The partially cleansed air is then moved through the housing 26 into the dust bag 12 where the remaining dust is collected as the air escapes through the pores of the bag. In a modification, the outlet pipe from the impeller housing is connected to a number of dust bags.
