Abstract:
A method and apparatus for selecting a Relay Station (RS) for a Mobile Station (MS) of a communication system are provided. The communication system is provided with the MS, a serving Base Station (BS) for providing the MS with a service and RSs for relaying signals of the MS and the BS. The MS receives RS information for increasing system capacity from the serving BS, measures reference signal strength of an RS indicated in the RS information, and selects an associated RS as a target RS for relaying a signal when the measured reference signal strength satisfies a condition.

Abstract:
A plasma display panel (PDP) protective layer including a ternary compound in the form of BaXO, wherein X is selected from the group consisting of Sc, Y, Gd, La, Er, Ho, Nd, Sm, and Ce. Such protective layer has excellent electron emission characteristics and phase stability.
Abstract:
A scanning apparatus and method in a multi-hop relay Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) communication system are provided. In the scanning method, a Mobile Subscriber Station (MSS) sends a scan request message requesting scanning to a Base Station (BS) via a Relay Station (RS). The BS sends a scan response message containing information for the scanning of the MSS to the MSS via the RS. The BS then sends a scan notify message indicating the scanning of the MSS to the RS.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for indicating a zone by a base station in a mobile communication system, in which a frame consists of an uplink sub-frame and a downlink sub-frame, and each of the uplink and downlink sub-frames includes a plurality of zones, are provided. The method includes identifying at least one of a channel condition of a mobile station, a condition on whether or not the mobile station supports inter-heterogeneous-network communication, a load condition of the base station, and a resource condition of a cell, determining if the mobile station can transmit/receive a signal through a number of zones that is less than the total number of zones based on the at least one identified condition and transmitting control information, which indicates a zone capable of being used for signal transmission/reception by the mobile station, to the mobile station, when the mobile station can transmit/receive the signal through the number of zones.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a method for transmitting data bursts by a base station in a communication system, including forming one group which includes at least one subchannel and transmitting at least two data bursts having an equal transmission characteristic through each subchannel included in the group.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a system and method for service interworking between heterogeneous communication systems. The service interworking system includes a first system and a second system that is evolved from the first system and can decode control and broadcast signals used in the first system. The first and second systems provide services by using frequency bands that do not overlap with each other.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for configuring a Relay-Frame Control Header (R-FCH) transmitted in an intermediary link area in a multi-hop relay Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) communication system are provided. The method includes determining a modulation scheme of a Relay Station (RS) Downlink (DL)-MAP (or simply referred to as R-MAP) in consideration of a channel state with the RS while an initial network entry process is performed by the RS or while communicating with the RS in a Base Station (BS)-RS area where communication is made with RSs connected to the BS and transmitting a message including the determined modulation scheme to the RS. Accordingly, a Modulation and Coding Scheme (MCS) on the R-MAP can be dynamically changed according to a channel state between an RS and a BS, thereby enabling effective use of resources.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for changing a data delivery route in a multi-hop relay Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) communication system are provided, in which a Relay Station (RS) scans neighboring nodes and an upper node. The RS transmits a scanning result report message to a base station (BS), and connects to a new upper node, upon receipt of a node change request message requesting the RS to change from the upper node to the new upper node from the BS.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for processing a handover complete signal in a multi-hop relay BWA communication system are provided in which a BS detects a source node of a Mobile Station (MS), when the MS completes network reentry, and transmits a handover complete message for the MS to the source node.
