Abstract: There is provided a chair having a seat portion and an inflatable member under the seat portion. Enveloped by the inflatable member is means for bringing outside air into the inflatable member to inflate it and thus raise the seat portion. In a preferred form, an electrically powered vacuum device would be located within a bag constituting the inflatable member, and thus the bag itself would contribute to muffling the sound of the electrically powered vacuum device.

Abstract: A support base for a display monitor provides for the stable orientation of the monitor over a range of tilt angles. An upper portion of the base includes a concave surface adapted to receive a complementary convex lower portion of the display monitor's cabinet. The concave surface of the base includes a pair of spaced, upraised, parallel, elongated, lateral guide rails adapted to receive and engage respective guide rail assemblies positioned on the convex lower portion of the monitor. The convex lower portion of the cabinet is further provided with a center projection for insertion within an elongated center aperture in the concave support surface positioned between the paired guide rails. The center projection is coupled to the base by means of a stretchable element such as an extension spring for applying a moment to the monitor tending to rotate it in a first direction within the concave surface. The biasing spring is coupled to the monitor such that the first direction of rotation is opposite to the rotational moment of the monitor due to its center of gravity. The monitor is thus maintained, once oriented as desired, at a stable tilt angle by these opposing moments. Each of the guide assemblies positioned on the cabinet's lower convex surface includes engaging means such as the combination of a spring washer and tension clip for engaging a respective guide rail in maintaining the monitor firmly positioned within the base's concave surface.

Abstract: The invention is a microphonics suppression means for a high frequency resonant cavity. The resonant cavity is used in a RF oscillator to generate UHF/VHF frequencies. The resonant cavity comprises an outer wall portion, a center conductor portion, a tuning slug and a plurality of coupling probes. The coupling probes, tuning slug and center conductor are held in a fixed relationship by a microphonics suppression means made of a low dielectric material which fits over and around the center conductor and encapsulates the coupling probes and collars the tuning slug. The microphonics suppression means reduces the effect of microphonics on the output signal of the RF oscillator, thus allowing a clean output signal suitable for high power applications.

Abstract: A lithium halide battery appropriate for low-cost, mass production is disclosed in which the battery comprises an outer encasement member having top and bottom portions and an opening through one with at least one pelletized depolarizer positioned within the encasement member and in electrical contact therewith. The battery includes a lithium anode in contact with the depolarizer but electrically separated from the encasement member. At least one insulator means is positioned in contact with the anode and includes an opening therethrough located to align with the opening in the encasement. A terminal pin is positioned through the opening in the encasement member, but insulated from the periphery thereof, and in electrical contact with the anode through the opening in the insulator means.

Abstract: An improved homodyne receiver for use in wideband optical communications systems is disclosed. The receiver utilizes dual channelization of the optical input signal in the manner of a Costas two-phase synchronous receiver. A novel beam-splitting/phase-splitting optical assembly is used to channelize the received and the local oscillator beams and insure the desired phase relationships. The receiver is capable of phase-locked operation in the presence of noise and frequency variations in the received and local oscillator signals.

Abstract: This invention is concerned with a folding four wheeled frame for a pushchair which has two front and two rear upwardly extending supports each of which carries at its lower end a wheel. The supports are pivotally connected to an upwardly extending backbone, and also connected near their lower ends to the lower end of the backbone by means of separate pivotal links. The front supports are connected near their upper ends to a first mounting adjacent to the top of the backbone by means of separate pivotal links, and the upper ends of the rear supports are pivotally connected to a second mounting on the backbone adjacent to the first mounting. The arrangement of the supports, backbone and mountings is such that the two mountings can be moved relatively to one another along the backbone whereupon the pivotal links enable the four supports to swing between a closed position nearer to the backbone and an open position further away from the backbone.
