Abstract:
A server transmits information, to a plurality of subscribers having mobile devices, concerning bars or nightclubs located within a predetermined distance from each subscriber. Subscribers receive information concerning special offers available at particular establishments. The system also enables subscribers to identify other subscribers, located at establishments in the vicinity, and to communicate with them. By tracking the location of each subscriber, the system can tailor offers, or sequences of offers, to subscribers who are near particular establishments, and/or who have particular preferences, and it can accumulate data from which to generate statistics which help operators of such establishments to maximize profitability.
Abstract:
A method and device for the detection of impact events on a security barrier. A hollow rebar is farmed within a security barrier, whereby the hollow rebar is completely surrounded by the security barrier. An optical fiber passes through the interior of the hollow rebar. An optical transmitter and an optical receiver are both optically connected to the optical fiber and connected to optical electronics. The optical electronics are configured to provide notification upon the detection of an impact event at the security barrier based on the detection of disturbances within the optical fiber.
Abstract:
A vehicle wheel weight has a mass portion of nonlead material having a first side for juxtaposition against a wheel rim and an opposite second side, one of which defines a clip groove. The weight further includes a clip having an extended portion for engaging the wheel rim. The clip further has an attachment portion seated in the clip groove such that the clip is fixed to the mass portion. In this regard, the clip groove has an attachment member receiving hole defined therein. The attachment portion of the clip defines at least one securement hole in register with the attachment member receiving hole of the mass portion when the attachment portion of the clip is positioned in the clip groove. An attachment member extends through the securement hole and into the attachment member receiving hole such that the clip is fixed to the mass portion.
Abstract:
An animal tie-out device including a hoop consisting of two or more sections that can he assembled and disassembled from each other, and attached to a vertical, object, and a secondary ring attached at one end to the circular hoop, and at the other end to an animal restraint.
Abstract:
Disclosed are advances in the arts with novel topical applicator apparatus for applying substances such as cleansers, cosmetic preparations and medications to the skin. The apparatus includes an applicator body having a power portion connected with an impulse portion, which in combination with an applicator head, transmits one or more various impulses to the skin supplemental to the substance applied. Exemplary preferred embodiments include configurations for providing mechanical and/or electrical or other impulses.
Abstract:
A method for data stream identification includes receiving a data stream from a data source and executing a first transform on the data stream to determine if the data stream comprises a first characteristic associated with the first transform. The first transform is part of a transform tree comprising a plurality of transforms arranged in a hierarchy. The method includes executing one or more additional transforms to determine if the data stream comprises one or more additional characteristics associated with the one or more additional transforms and computing an efficiency level associated with the execution of each transform. The method also includes identifying a path through the transform tree wherein the computed efficiency level of each transform in the path is above a threshold value to determine characteristics of the data stream.
Abstract:
A method and/or system may be configured to receive an input/output (I/O) request from an initiator system, add priority information to a multiple path referral for each port on which data can be accessed, selectively omit ports on which data may be accessed, transmit the multiple path referral from the target to the initiator, and/or choose a path on the initiator with the highest performance.
Abstract:
Crystals of a solvated cerium(III) halide solvate complex resulted from a process of forming a paste of a cerium(III) halide in an ionic liquid, adding a solvent to the paste, removing any undissolved solid, and then cooling the liquid phase. Diffusing a solvent vapor into the liquid phase also resulted in crystals of a solvated cerium(III) halide complex.
Abstract:
A fluid dispenser is described that includes a dispenser, a cap, and an insert. The dispenser is flexible and includes a body portion and a cylindrical mouth portion extending from the body portion. The mouth portion has an opening defining a lip. The cap is operable to engage the mouth portion of the dispenser, said cap has an aperture therethrough operable to dispense a fluid stored within the dispenser. The insert is sized for placement within the opening, between the mouth portion and the cap and includes a substantially solid plug having a first and a second axial hole therethrough, a first reed valve operably attached to the plug to close the first axial hole from an outside of the dispenser, and a second reed valve operably attached to the plug to close the second axial hole from an inside of the dispenser.
