Abstract: Systems and methods herein describe generating a shared list of media elements. The system detects a selection of an application icon within a chat interface and generates an application interface. The application interface comprises a media library. The system initiates a first user time limit and detects a selection of a media element from the media library. The system adds the media element to a shared list of media elements. Upon expiration of the first user time limit, the system initiates a second user time limit and detects a selection of a second media element from the media library. The system adds the second media element to the shared list of media elements. Upon expiration of the second user time limit, the system stores the shared list of media elements.

Abstract: The subject technology receives, at a client device, a selection of a selectable graphical item from a plurality of selectable graphical items, the selectable graphical item comprising an augmented reality content generator including a 3D effect. The subject technology applies, to image data and depth data, the 3D effect based at least in part on the augmented reality content generator, the applying the 3D effect. The subject technology generates a depth map using at least the depth data, generates a segmentation mask based at least on the image data, and performs background inpainting and blurring of the image data using at least the segmentation mask to generate background inpainted image data. The subject technology generates a 3D message based at least in part on the applied 3D effect.

Abstract: A system includes a communication module that receives a request to post content to an event gallery associated with an event. The request in turn includes geo-location data for a device sending the content, and identification data identifying the device or a user of the device. The system further has an event gallery module to perform a first authorization operation that includes determining that the geo-location data corresponds to a geo-location fence associated with an event. The event gallery module also performs a second authorization operation that includes using the identification data to verify an attribute of the user. Finally, based on the first and second authorization operations, the event gallery module may selectively authorize the device to post the content to the event gallery.

Abstract: Systems and methods for projecting each of a chronology of images as a sequence of images using a shifting element as part of a near-eye display system are provided for use in virtual reality, augmented reality, or mixed reality systems. In some example embodiments, a chronology of images is received by a peripheral sequencing system. The system divides each image into image portions and generates sequences of image portions to recreate the images based on arrangement data. The system then causes a high-speed display of each sequence of images such that they appear simultaneous to a viewer. In some embodiments, the projection is transmitted to a shifting optical element such as a rotating micromirror that propagates a display to a user. In some embodiments, the system further detects and corrects for image and environmental distortions.

Abstract: System and methods for compressing image-to-image models. Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs) have achieved success in generating high-fidelity images. An image compression system and method adds a novel variant to class-dependent parameters (CLADE), referred to as CLADE-Avg, which recovers the image quality without introducing extra computational cost. An extra layer of average smoothing is performed between the parameter and normalization layers. Compared to CLADE, this image compression system and method smooths abrupt boundaries, and introduces more possible values for the scaling and shift. In addition, the kernel size for the average smoothing can be selected as a hyperparameter, such as a 3×3 kernel size. This method does not introduce extra multiplications but only addition, and thus does not introduce much computational overhead, as the division can be absorbed into the parameters after training.

Abstract: Methods and systems are disclosed for performing operations for transferring garments in a video from one real-world object to another in real time. The operations comprise receiving a first video that includes a depiction of a first person wearing a first garment in a first pose and obtaining a second video that includes a depiction of a second person wearing a second garment in a second pose. The operations comprise modifying a pose of the second person to match the first pose of the first person depicted in the first video. The operations comprise generating a whole-body segmentation of the second garment which the second person is wearing in the second video and changing an appearance of the first person from wearing the first garment to wearing the second garment based on the whole-body segmentation of the second garment which the second person is wearing in the second video.

Abstract: Systems and methods for rendering three-dimensional (3D) scenes having improved visual characteristics from a pair of 2D images having different viewpoints. Abstract: Systems and methods for object-based content recommendation are described. A camera feed comprising a plurality of image frames is caused to be displayed at a client device. An object is detected within an image frame from the camera feed, the object corresponding with an object category. Responsive to detecting the object, an icon associated with the object category is selected and displayed at a position upon the camera feed. The icon corresponds with a media collection related to the object category. An input is received selecting the icon. Responsive to the input, a presentation of media items from the media collection is displayed at the client device. By detecting real-world objects and surfacing relevant virtual icons that link to associated media, an augmented reality experience is provided allowing virtual content to be overlaid and anchored to objects in reality.
