Abstract: A network device such as an evolved NodeB (eNB) or next generation NodeB (gNB) can configure a set of user equipment (UE) for cell reference signal (CRS) muting in order to provide better channel quality and power efficiency in communications. Where an eNB mutes CRS transmissions that are not needed by any UE, an improvement in downlink throughput and reduce connection drop rate can be generated. A CRS muting capability can be determined based on a user equipment (UE) capability information. According to the CRS muting capability of a UE, CRS muting can be generated in a physical channel outside of a narrow band (NB) or a wide band (WB) plus/minus X physical resource blocks (PRBs), wherein X is a non-negative integer, based on the CRS muting capability.

Abstract: transmissions outside a transmission opportunity (TxOP) is disclosed. The UE can process an uplink (UL) opportunity received from an eNodeB during a defined transmission opportunity (TxOP). The UL opportunity can schedule UL information to be transmitted from the UE on one or more UL subframes that are outside the defined TxOP. The UE can initiate a listen-before-talk (LBT) procedure to be performed before the UL information is transmitted from the UE on the one or more UL subframes that are outside the defined TxOP. The UE can process the UL information for transmission to the eNodeB on the one or more UL subframes located outside the defined TxOP.

The UE can determine scheduling of an SIB1-BR for a target cell based on the RRC reconfiguration message, and process the SIB1-BR received from the target cell during the determined scheduling.

Abstract: Systems and methods of providing a NPRACH preamble in a multefire system are described. A UE configured for multefire NB-IoT or eMTC operation receives, from an eNB, access information that includes a SIB on a narrowband channel of an unlicensed band. Based on the access information, the UE transmits a NPRACH preamble in two or six contiguous uplink subframes. The NPRACH preamble is transmitted in two or six contiguous subframes. When two subframes are used, four symbol groups each having a 266.7 μs CP and two symbols are transmitted without a gap therebetween. When six subframes are used, four symbol groups each having a 266.7 μs CP and five symbols are transmitted without a gap therebetween.

Abstract: Technology for a Next Generation NodeB (gNB) operable to communicate over an anchor channel for Unlicensed Internet of Things (U-IoT) is disclosed. The gNB can encode control information for transmission on two discovery reference signal (DRS) subframes to a user equipment 5 (UE). The control information can be transmitted on an anchor channel having a set frequency for U-IoT in an adaptive frequency hopping system. The control information can include: a primary synchronization signal (PSS), a secondary synchronization signal (SSS), a physical broadcast channel (PBCH) transmission, and a system information block for MulteFire bandwidth reduced (SIB-MF10 BR).

Abstract: Embodiments are provided for resource monitoring and power saving in a user equipment (UE) operating according to a discontinuous reception (DRX) in new radio (NR) wireless communication system. The UE, operating in the DRX mode, monitors for a wake up occasion in control signal prior to the DRX ON time. If the wake occasion is detected, then the EFE monitors for a channel state information (CSI) resource signal (RS) prior to the DRX ON time. If no wake up occasion is detected, then at least a portion of the UE remains in a sleep mode prior to DRX ON time.
