Abstract: A processing system including at least one processor may collect a first set of time series features relating to requests for a content item at a content distribution node in a communication network, generate a first prediction model based upon the first set of time series features to predict levels of demand for the content item at the content distribution node at future time periods, identify, via the first prediction model, a first time period of the future time periods when a predicted level of demand for the content item exceeds a threshold level of demand, identify a second time period of the future time periods when a predicted level of utilization of the communication network is below a threshold level of utilization, the second time period being prior to the first time period, and transfer the content item to the content distribution node in the second time period.

Abstract: A managed Wi-Fi service network device can receive, from a cellular network device, an allowable throughput rate at which a user equipment is authorized to communicate via a managed Wi-Fi service network. Based on the allowable throughput rate, the managed Wi-Fi service network device can monitor a communication rate of the user equipment via the managed Wi-Fi service network. In response to the user equipment communicating via the managed Wi-Fi service network at a rate that exceeds the allowable throughput rate, the managed Wi-Fi service network device can facilitate reducing the communication rate of the user equipment. Also, a user equipment can receive from a cellular network device an allowable throughput rate at which the user equipment is authorized to communicate via the managed Wi-Fi service network. The UE can communicate via the managed Wi-Fi service network at a communication rate that does not exceed the allowable throughput rate.

Abstract: Spectrum resource sharing management is described, e.g., a user equipment can determine a metric representative of a quality of a communication signal received by the user equipment, wherein the communication signal is received via a first mobile network operated by a first mobile network operator entity. In response to the metric being determined to be below a threshold, the user equipment can scan a group of frequency bands. The user equipment can receive a broadcast signal from a network node device via a frequency band of the group of frequencies, wherein the broadcast signal comprises a performance parameter and cost information, and wherein the network node device is associated with a second mobile network operated by a second mobile network operator entity. In response to an evaluation of the performance parameter and the cost information, the user equipment can determine whether to select the network node device to engage in cellular transmissions between the user equipment and the network node device.

The display can be a result of a comparison between an internal mobile device data store and/or an external list that comprises the Wi-Fi devices that are acting as extensions of the carrier for a 5G network.

Abstract: A mobile communications device may determine whether to report information regarding operation of the mobile device on a mobile network. The determination may be based on a reporting parameter set by a network control device and received via a broadcast message from a radio access node. The mobile device may compare the value of the reporting parameter to a randomly generated number. Based on the comparison, the mobile device may determine whether or not to provide information regarding operation of the mobile device or the radio access node to the network control device. The network control device may adjust the value of the reporting parameter to control the likelihood that a mobile device will report.

Abstract: Techniques for facilitating cellular or wireless fidelity access point selection are provided. Based on a first condition associated with the first radio load being determined to have been satisfied, the method can facilitate, by the mobile device, receiving second radio load data, indicative of a current radio load, from a second wireless device. Additionally, in response to a second condition associated with the current radio load being determined to have been satisfied, the method can utilize, by the mobile device, a second channel of the second wireless device for a communication.

Abstract: A system can allow users of mobile devices to opt-in to receive emergency notifications based on a source mobile device sending a notification of an emergency situation. The users of the mobile devices can filter reception of the notification based on several factors including, but not limited to location, time, type of event etc. The system can also comprise video devices capable of being activated and/or recording video in response to an indication that the notification as been sent. Additionally, notifications and identification of mobile device users intending to response to the emergency can be sent to emergency personnel to assist the emergency personnel in determining who should be at the scene of the emergency.

Abstract: A domain and a mobile device may exchange data via a radio access node included in a mobile network. During a time of peak demand, a data load level of the radio access node may exceed a threshold. To accommodate the peak demand, historical types and volumes of data may be used to manage a data rate related to data associated with the domain. Based on the historical information, the data rate for a mobile device, a radio access node, a range of time, or a data type may be controlled. The data rate may be managed by a network gateway, such as a gateway included in the mobile network.

Abstract: A mobile communications system includes a transceiver and a packet subsystem server of a mobile communications network for the transceiver. The transceiver can transceive wireless signals with mobile devices in a coverage area using wireless connections to exchange data with application servers. For each wireless connection the packet subsystem server can determine weighted scores using different weights for each of direct radio measures, a packet retransmission rate of the mobile communications network, and a throughput data rate. The packet subsystem server can determine an aggregated score from the weighted scores and determine a data-rate-control decision for the wireless connection using the aggregated score. The data-rate-control decision can be outputted to a packet core handling system of the mobile communications network for controlling the data rate of data transmitted using the wireless connection.
