Abstract:
Embodiments herein include a method of notifying terminals located in a target network area. The method is executed by a call control node. The call control node is associated with a serving network area, wherein the serving network area at least partially comprises the target network area. In order to provide an efficient, easily accomplishable, and network capacity sparing notification of terminals located in a target network area, the method comprises receiving a result of a scanning of a visitor location register database associated with the call control node for terminals registered for the target network area, and sending a notification message to the terminals located in the target network area based on the received result of the scanning.
Abstract:
A method, a network node and a program unit for controlling the establishment or modification of a connection in a communication network are disclosed. The connection is to be established or modified between nodes that are adapted to employ a coding scheme selected from a plurality of supported coding schemes having a different demand on a utilization of a network resource. In accordance with the invention an expected demand on a utilization of a network resource associated with employing the at least one of the supported coding schemes is determined, and a node controlling the connection selects the coding scheme to be employed such that the associated expected demand on the network resource utilization is minimized.
Abstract:
Techniques of emergency session handling in a communication network are provided, in which a packet switched network control function configured to handle emergency sessions established from a user equipment via a packet switched network access, e.g. an Emergency Call Session Control Function (E-CSCF), is associated with a switching control node of a circuit switched network. The switching control node is capable of handling emergency session established via a circuit switched network access, e.g. a Mobile Switching Centre Server (MSC-S) of a mobile network. Handling of emergency sessions established via the packet switched network access is forwarded from the packet switched network control function to the associated switching control node.
Abstract:
A Method for controlling an establishment or a modification of a connection according to a packet based transmission scheme in a communication network (100) comprising a plurality of nodes (102-112) is proposed. The connection (113) to be established or modified comprises or utilizes one or more entities potentially causing a transmission delay for a transmission over the connection. An indicator indicating an expected accumulated delay for the connection (124) is sent between nodes controlling the connection and one of the nodes controlling the connection checks the indicator when it performs a decision on the packetisation time to be applied for the connection.
Abstract:
A technique for routing a call to a unified service domain using one or more client applications providing call routing support from a circuit-switch access domain to unified service domain is described. A first one of the client applications will be provided on a network side and a second one of the client applications may potentially be provided on a terminal side. A method implementation of this technique comprises, on the network side, the steps of receiving a message from the terminal side, detecting, in response to the message, the client application that is to provide the routing functionalities, and controlling an activation state of at least one of the two client applications dependent on a result of this detection.
Abstract:
Apparatus for enabling interworking of CS (Circuit Switched) video calls with video calls using IP multimedia protocols, comprising: a MGW (2); and a MGCF (4); wherein the apparatus is arranged to use MONA functionality (10, 11, 12, 14) to accelerate the set-up of video calls.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a technique of operating a call control node controlling at least one section of a call path. The call path includes between two opposite edge nodes a multi-section harmonization path along which codec selection is to be harmonized. A method embodiment of the technique, wherein the call control node is a transfer node in the harmonization path between the edge nodes, comprises the steps of determining if the call control node is a transfer node of the harmonization path; determining if a codec used for the at least one section controlled by the call control node fulfils a predefined harmonization criterion; and providing, in case the used codec does not fulfill the harmonization criterion, a harmonization trigger indication to at least one of the edge nodes of the harmonization path for initiating harmonization.
Abstract:
The present invention proposes a solution for providing IMS services and in particular mid-call services to users having circuit-switched controlled terminals and being not adapted to provide IMS services to the users. In particular, it is proposed to introduce a new node type called Mobile Access Gateway Control Function (MAGCF). This new node combines the logical functionality of a cellular switching center and the logical functionality of packet-based logic. The invention discusses a concept of the MAGCF handling mid-calls, which comprises identification of the received mid-call request, generating in accordance to the identified mid-call a corresponding message, tracking the status of the performed mid-calls.
Abstract:
The invention relates to methods and devices for enabling the handling of terminating speech calls to a dual mode user equipment by using a further access network for transmitting said data.
