    Abstract: Techniques for reducing image artifacts on a display s may include receiving image data, such that the image data includes pixel luminance data for a frame of image data. The technique may also include determining an emission duration for a pixel of the plurality of pixels during a sub-frame of the frame of image data based on the pixel luminance data. The technique may also include determining an emission duration extension to apply to the emission duration associated with the sub-frame based on a luminance baseline associated with the sub-frame, a luminance level associated with the sub-frame, and a time period associated with the sub-frame. The technique may then involve sending an emission signal to the pixel, such that the emission signal is configured to cause the pixel to emit light for a duration that correspond to the emission duration and the emission duration extension.

    Abstract: A display has rows and columns of pixels (22). A data line (Dn) in each column provides image data signals to the pixels of that column. Each row has first and second control lines (select[m], monitor[m]) coupled to the gates of first and second respective transistors (SE, MO) in each pixel. A third transistor in each pixel serves as a drive transistor (DR) and is coupled in series with a light-emitting diode (30) between positive and ground power supply voltages (VDD, VSS). A display driver circuitry in the display characterizes each of the light-emitting diodes in a column using the data line in an adjacent column from that light-emitting diode. Each of the drive transistors in a column is characterized using the data line in that column and the data line in an adjacent column.

    Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for differential sensing (DS), difference-differential sensing (DDS), correlated double sampling (CDS), and/or programmable capacitor matching to reduce display panel sensing noise. An electronic device may include one or more processors and an electronic display. The one or more processors may generate image data and adjust the image data based at least in part on display sensing feedback. The electronic display may employ sensing circuitry that obtains the display sensing feedback at least in part by applying test data to a pixel of a column of an active area of the display and differentially senses an electrical value of the pixel in comparison to a reference signal from a different column. This reference signal may provide a common mode noise reference, which is removed by the differential sensing and thereby enhances a quality of the sensed electrical value of the pixel.

    Abstract: A display may include an array of organic light-emitting diode display pixels having transistors characterized by threshold voltages subject to transistor variations. Compensation circuitry may be used to sense a current from selected display pixels. A display pixel may include a drive transistor, a gate setting transistor for driving a reference voltage onto the gate terminal of the drive transistor, a data loading and current sensing transistor for connecting the drive transistor to a data/current-sensing line, a light-emitting diode, an emission control transistor coupled between the drive transistor and the diode, and an anode resetting transistor for selectively resetting the anode terminal of the diode. During pixel conditioning and current sensing operations, the anode resetting transistor may be constantly turned on to ensure that there is no voltage perturbation at the source terminal of the drive transistor, which can help prevent hysteresis-induced current sensing error.

    Abstract: An organic light-emitting diode display may contain an array of display pixels. Each display pixel may have a respective organic light-emitting diode that is controlled by a drive transistor. At low temperatures, it may be necessary to increase the amount of current through an organic light-emitting diode to achieve a desired luminance level. In order to increase the current through the light-emitting diode, the ground voltage level may be lowered. However, this may lead to thin-film transistors within the pixel leaking, which may result in undesirable display artifacts such as bright dots being displayed in a dark image. In order to prevent leakage in the transistors, the transistors may be coupled to separate reference voltage supplies or separate control lines. Additionally, the transistors may be positioned to minimize leakage even at low ground voltage levels.
