摘要: A refreshable dynamic memory is used to drive a video display wherein each row of stored memory is accessed to provide one line of video. The memory row address counter is incremented a number of times during the horizontal retrace period to sequentially refresh a given number of memory rows before another row is displayed. The cycle is repeated until an entire field is displayed. A sufficient number of rows are refreshed during each line whereby the rows are refreshed continually within the storage time of the memory cells.

摘要: An automatic signal level control for use in a video system using a solid state imager capable of integrating pulsed light images of a target imaged thereon. An automatic gain control is used to adjust the gain of a variable gain amplifier in the output circuit of the image sensor. A strobe lamp is used to illuminate the target during each imaging sequence. The feedback signal to the amplifier is compared to an upper and lower threshold and, in response thereto, the number of pulses generated during each illumination sequence are adjusted to maintain the video signal levels within a desired operating range.

摘要: A method of operating an image reader includes the steps of: searching a digital image for nominally straight edges; characterizing the nominally straight edges in terms of length and/or direction; determining a predominant orientation of the nominally straight edges; establishing a group of edges as a function of their proximity to the center of the image; establishing a group of edges as a function of their proximity to other remaining edge positions; and, transmuting a rectangle bounding those edges into a rectified image; wherein a rectified image is an image that is cropped or rotated.

摘要: Systems and methods for successfully decoding optical images of objects of interest when such objects are situated outside a conventional working range of an imaging system, or when such objects are degraded. The systems and methods are based upon a comparison of computed signals corresponding to distorted images that would be obtained from known objects, such as barcodes, when viewed outside a working range, or when degraded, with actual signals obtained from the object of interest. The computed signals in one embodiment are recorded in a lookup table. An advantage of the systems and methods disclosed is that there results a smooth, monotonic probability of correctly decoding the image of interest, even beyond the working distance. A handheld or portable apparatus useful for practicing the invention is also disclosed.
