Abstract:
A fuel cell comprising anode and cathode flow field plates having a multitude of flow channels separated by land features wherein the land features of the anode side are wider than the land features of the cathode side is disclosed. In fuel cells, the flow field plate arrangement of the present invention provides higher power (lower cost per kW), improved durability, and less stringent assembly alignment.
Abstract:
A solar panel system is disclosed, wherein energy is captured by the solar panel system and stored for re-use in an energy storage device. The solar panel system facilitates a preservation of aesthetics while a complexity of installation, cost of the solar panel system, and cost of installation are minimized.
Abstract:
Methods of producing an electrochemical conversion assembly comprising an electrochemical conversion cell are provided. The electrochemical conversion cells which comprises a membrane electrode assembly, first and second flowfield portions defined on opposite sides of the membrane electrode assembly, and, at least one vapor barrier layer disposed between the membrane electrode assembly and at least one of the flowfield portions. The method further includes selecting a desired mass transfer coefficient MTC for the at least one vapor barrier layer of at least about 0.05 cm and optimizing one or more of the porosity, the tortuosity, and the thickness of the vapor barrier layer to produce the desired MTC in the vapor barrier layer.
Abstract:
A plasma jet system includes a housing with a single opening. A plasma generator is coupled to ionize a fluid in the housing. An electromagnetic accelerator is coupled to generate an electric field that accelerates ionized fluid in the housing toward the opening. A controller can modulate the frequency of the electric field to cause the ionized fluid to form a plasma vortex flow through the opening. A magnetic field is applied normal to the direction of the plasma vortex flow to mitigate the momentum of the electrons. The electrons slowed by the magnetic field can be collected and conducted to a location where they are re-inserted into the plasma vortex flow to maintain charge neutrality.
Abstract:
A keyless entry system is disclosed for use in an entry system wherein the latching mechanism may be locked or unlocked by either a key or a remotely controlled mechanism.
Abstract:
A pallet for use with forklifts and pallet jacks has entry ways for the tines or blades of the forklift or pallet jack that are aligned with open areas in the top deck of the pallet. This enables removal of a part of the load on the pallet aligned with the open area in the top deck by inserting a tine(s) or blade(s) into one or a pair of the entry ways, raising the tine(s) or blade(s) to pass through the open area in the top deck and engage the part of the load of the pallet. Then, the part of the load can be separately removed from the pallet without disturbing the remainder of the load supported on the pallet. The top deck of the pallet is divided into quadrants, and a load can be assembled on the pallet that is different in one or more of the quadrants.
Abstract:
Methods and systems are described that permit efficient processing of user-defined multi-media editing projects that combine multiple different source data streams into a single compressed data stream that represents the project. The described approaches are directed to ensuring that those compressed source data stream portions that need to be uncompressed for processing are uncompressed and processed, while those compressed source data stream portions that do not need to be uncompressed are not uncompressed. In one embodiment, a unique switch assembly is provided comprising one or more switches each of which being configured to process data streams. The switch assembly is configured to process both compressed and uncompressed data streams to provide the single compressed output data stream. In one embodiment, three software-implemented switches are provided—one for handling uncompressed source data streams, one for handling compressed source data streams, and one for processing the output of the first two switches to provide the single compressed data stream.
Abstract:
A method comprising generating a source chain for use in a development project, and caching the source chain when it is not currently required in the development project.
Abstract:
The invention provides, in one aspect, a method of packaging a product and treating the packaged product with high pressure pasteurization comprising placing a product within a package being water resistant, submerging the packaged product in water and applying pressure on the packaged product with water, and removing the packaged product from the water, wherein the packaged product has not been penetrated by water.
Abstract:
An attached lid container has lids that are hinged to the top edges of the side walls of the container. When the lids are closed, the free edges of the lids engage one another to form a joint that interlocks the lids together. The lids are attached to the container at the hinge joints after the molding of the container and lids, while the molded parts are still in the mold press. Specifically, the lids are molded next to the container and then moved laterally to be aligned with the hinge line of the container after the mold cavity is withdrawn. Then, the ejectors push the lids out toward the container. The force of the outward movement causes the hinge parts of the lids and container to snap together. Subsequently a robot arm removes the container from the mold press with the hinged lids assembled on the container.
