    摘要: A medical device for placing an embolic device at a predetermined site within a vessel of the body including a delivery catheter and a flexible pusher member slidably disposed within the lumen of the catheter. An embolic device is retained within the delivery catheter by a mechanical interlocking mechanism which includes an engagement member attached to the distal end of the pusher member and extends through a retaining ring at the proximal end of the embolic device. A detachment member extends through an aperture at the distal end of the engagement member thereby locking the embolic device onto the pusher member. A kicker member extends from the distal end of the pusher member and is comprised of a shape memory material adapted to lift the retaining ring off of the engagement member at human body temperature when the detachment member is withdrawn from the aperture of the engagement member.

    摘要: A vascular occlusion device for use with a hydraulic deployment catheter is provided. The vascular occlusion device includes a headpiece that has a deformable interference element which changes from an initial configuration to a deformed configuration upon an increase of hydraulic pressure within the deployment catheter. When the interference element is in the initial configuration, the headpiece is secured to the deployment catheter, and when the interference element is in the deformed configuration, the headpiece can be removed from the deployment catheter for deployment of the occlusion device.

The article is defined by two metal pieces, such as nitinol and stainless steel, having different performance characteristics. The two pieces may each be provided as a tube having a spiral-cut section that is configured to be intermeshed with the spiral-cut section of the other metal. The article may also include a radiopaque material for improved placement within the body, which material may also be provided as a tube with a spiral-cut section to be intermeshed and joined with the first and second pieces.

    摘要: An expandable stent and delivery system therefor is provided for treating vascular diseases such as partially occluded blood vessels and aneurysms. The delivery system includes proximal, intermediate and distal cylindrical members disposed about an elongated core member. The proximal, intermediate, and distal cylindrical members are spaced apart such that first and second gaps are formed. The expandable stent includes anchor members which are formed by winding a radiopaque coil onto a threaded portion of a strut member of the expandable stent. The expandable stent is mounted on the intermediate cylindrical member with the anchor members disposed within the gaps between the cylindrical members. A deployment catheter is used to compress and constrain the stent about the intermediate cylindrical member to thereby interlock the stent onto the core member.
