Abstract: In some examples, a thrombus removal device includes an elongated support member and an expandable element configured to segment the thrombus into smaller pieces as the thrombus moves into a basket defined by the expandable element. The expandable element is configured to expand radially outward from a delivery configuration to a deployed configuration. In the deployed configuration, the expandable element defines a proximal mouth configured to receive a thrombus and a distal basket configured to receive at least part of the thrombus after it has moved through the proximal mouth. A proximal portion of the expandable element defines a plurality of arms configured to segment the thrombus into smaller pieces.

Abstract: A clot removal device has an expandable treatment member having a distal tip and a proximal end, a delivery wire having a distal end coupled to the proximal end of the expandable treatment member, and a flow restrictor carried along the delivery wire at a location that is separate and proximal from the expandable treatment member. The flow restrictor has a body with a distal section and a proximal section, the distal section being covered and the proximal section being uncovered. The expandable treatment member is moveable relative to the flow restrictor, and can be retracted into the distal section.

Abstract: A surgical tunneling tool and a method of using the surgical tunneling tool are disclosed. In one embodiment, the surgical tunneling tool includes a flexible shaft including a lumen through which an anesthetic may be delivered subcutaneously. In another embodiment, the surgical tunneling tool includes a sheath disposed on a flexible shaft, the sheath including at least one channel through which an anesthetic may be delivered subcutaneously. The subcutaneous distribution of anesthetic may involve stepwise insertion of the surgical tunneling tool. The surgical tunneling tool may be used for insertion of a medical device into a patient after use of the surgical tunneling tool to anesthetize a subcutaneous pathway for the medical device.

Abstract: Devices, methods and systems are provided for occluding an opening within the tissue of a body, such as a left atrial appendage. In one embodiment, a medical device includes an occluder portion and an anchor portion. The occluder portion includes a hub that defines an axis, the occluder portion extending between a proximal end coupled to the hub and a distal end defining an occluder eyelet adjacent thereto. The anchor portion extends between a first end and a second end, the first end coupled to an anchor hub and the second end defining an anchor eyelet adjacent thereto and hingeably coupled to the occluder eyelet. With this arrangement, the anchor hub is moveable along the axis to move the anchor portion between a retracted position and a deployed position upon the occluder portion being in an expanded position.

Abstract: An apparatus and method are disclosed for a biofunctional molecular imprint medical device configured to remain in permanent or temporary contact with a body comprising a supportive structure, a surface material that receives and retains a molecular imprint and that is positioned to contact a body tissue or other substance during use, a molecular imprint of a bioactive molecule wherein an imprinted cavity is of a bioactive molecule that catalyzes the promotion or suppression biological processes and at least one of a semiconductor, a nanoparticle quantum dot, a nano-island, and a quantum wire, wherein the nanoparticle quantum dot, nano-island, or quantum wire produces an electron wave function configuration that dynamically reconfigures the electron charge distribution within the molecular imprint, enabling tuning of the imprinted cavity.

Abstract: Implantable materials for use with end effectors like surgical stapling devices, and methods for using the same, are generally provided. In some embodiments, adjunct materials for use with surgical staplers are provided. For example, a kit for stapling tissue is provided that can include a surgical stapler having an end effector. The end effector can have first and second jaws. The kit can include an adjunct material having hydrophobic surface regions and hydrophilic surface regions and the adjunct material can be configured to mate to at least one of the jaws of the end effector. Other implants, devices, and methods for surgical stapling are also provided.
