    摘要: A male terminal fitting (1) has a rectangular tube (4). A locking edge (15) engageable with a locking portion provided in a cavity is formed over the entire width in an outer surface of a rectangular tube (4). No opening is formed in the outer surface of the rectangular tube portion (4) by forming this locking edge (15). Closing pieces (12) are provided at positions slightly retracted inwardly of the locking edge (15). Thus, problems such as the intrusion of external matter from the outside and the deformation of a leading end portion of another male terminal fitting (1) due to the entrance into the rectangular tube (4) can be avoided.

An operable surface (59A) is exposed at an end surface of the front wall (50). The front wall (50) can be moved from a full locking position to a partial locking position along the front end of the housing (10) by pushing this operable surface (59A). Portions of the end surface of the front wall (50) other than the operable surface (59A) are covered at least partly by an wall (26) of the housing (10) to limit movement of the front wall (50).

A lever accommodation portion (40) is formed on upper and lower walls of a female-side hood part (23). The lever (70) is accommodated in the lever accommodation portion (40), and is sandwiched between a wall (41) and an accommodation wall (42) without forming a gap therebetween. A reinforcing wall (43) connects a front end of the wall (41) and that of the accommodation wall (42) to each other.

    摘要: When a stationary metallic mold and a movable metallic mold are closed, a housing is molded having a retainer insertion hole by the existence of a sliding mold. A retainer is also molded. First, when only the metallic mold is opened, the core pin is withdrawn, and the sliding mold is withdrawn in the longitudinal direction by the cam action of the angular pin, so that the molding portion is withdrawn from the retainer insertion hole. Successively, the sliding mold is relatively drawn out to the front of the advancing and withdrawing passage together with the stationary metallic mold, and the advancing and withdrawing passage becomes open. Next, an auxiliary sliding mold is advanced, and the retainer held by the auxiliary sliding mold is inserted into the retainer insertion hole and temporarily assembled to the housing. It is possible to insert the retainer straight into the retainer insertion hole. The finished product is protruded to the front of the movable metallic mold by the protruding pin.
