Abstract: The present disclosure provides methods and devices for intra-prediction of a current block in video encoding or decoding. The method comprises: performing intra-prediction processing of the current block according to a directional intra-prediction mode, comprising applying reference sample filtering or subpixel interpolation filtering to reference samples in one or more reference blocks, wherein the directional intra-prediction mode is classified into one of the following groups: (A) vertical or horizontal modes, (B) directional modes including diagonal modes that represent angles which are multiples of 45 degrees, (C) remaining directional modes; if the directional intra-prediction mode is classified as belonging to group B, a reference sample filter is applied to the reference samples; if the directional intra-prediction mode is classified as belonging to group C, an intra reference sample interpolation filter is applied to the reference samples.

Abstract: A method for intra prediction of a current block of a picture is provided. The method includes obtaining an aspect ratio of the current block according to a width and a height of the current block; obtaining a weighting factor based on the aspect ratio, and determining an intra-prediction value of the current block based on the weighting factor. Intra-prediction value of a current block may be obtained with high accuracy or low computational complexity, so as to improve coding efficiency.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides embodiments for coding and decoding signs of transform coefficients which is applicable, for instance, in image and/or video coding and decoding. In particular, a plurality of the signs are predicted and only a prediction error signal is embedded in the bitstream. The prediction error signal may have a distribution which can be efficiently coded with CABAC or another variable length (entropy) coding. Moreover, if adaptive multi-core transform is used, the context for the entropy code to code a transform coefficient sign is selected according to the transformation which was used to obtain the transform coefficient.

Abstract: A frame of encoded video data is partitioned into a plurality of video coding blocks, including a current video coding block, the current video coding block comprising a plurality of sub-blocks. The encoded video data is decoded to provide a residual video coding block associated with the current video coding block. Parameter adjustment information is extracted from the encoded video data. A predicted video coding block is generated by generating for each sub-block of the current video coding block a predicted sub-block. A prediction parameter is defined for the current video coding block on the basis of the parameter adjustment information and the predicted sub-block is generated on the basis of the adjusted prediction parameter. The current video coding block is restored on the basis of the residual video coding block and the predicted video coding block.

Abstract: Apparatuses and methods for intra predicting a block are described. The method of intra predicting a current block can include obtaining a predicted sample value from one or more reference sample values by using an intra prediction mode, obtaining at least one additional reference sample value in accordance with the intra prediction mode, and obtaining a thresholded additional reference sample value based on the additional reference sample value. The method can also include calculating an additional value from the thresholded additional reference sample value, multiplying the predicted sample value by a sample weighting factor, resulting in a weighted predicted sample value, adding the additional value to the weighted predicted sample value, resulting in a non-normalized predicted sample value, and normalizing the non-normalized predicted sample value, resulting in a normalized predicted sample values. The accuracy for the intra prediction is thus increased.
