摘要： A drying apparatus has a casing, a cavity formed in the casing for receiving an object, a fan located in the casing and creating an airflow, and at least one slot-like opening communicating with the fan and arranged in the casing so as to direct an airflow transversely across the cavity. The slot-like opening has a maximum width which is no greater than 0.8 mm. This produces a very narrow, high velocity, high pressure airflow which is capable of drying an object efficiently and quickly and is suitable for use in a hand dryer.

Each appliance has a different respective function and comprises an outer housing generally in the shape of a cuboid having two side surfaces and flat upper, front, and rear surfaces each extending between the side surfaces. The housings are substantially of equal height and equal depth, which enables the appliances to be juxtaposed on a work counter or a shelf, either with contiguous side surfaces or with contiguous rear surfaces, with no wasted space between the appliances. The flat surfaces of the appliances enables the exposed surfaces of the housings to be quickly and easily wiped clean.

The support assembly is moveable between a supporting position, in which it supports the main body, and a stored position, in which it lies substantially against the main body. The provision of a support assembly that lies substantially against the main body of the appliance when not needed improves the maneuverability and range of motion achievable by the appliance in use. The support assembly may be brought out of its supporting position by a user-depressible pedal, which makes the appliance user-friendly.
